MM won Valencia in Moto2 from last place on the grid, granted I think his bike was twice as fast as the others.

And the REAL GOAT ... Mike the bike Hailwood ... Won 14 TT's, 2 podiums in F1, 3rd in Le Mans, won Grand Prix titles in 250cc, 350cc and 500cc. Go on youtube and go listen to those RC Hondas (RC166 for example) sound ... pure music to my ears. 6 cylinders on a 250

MotoGP racing has not been like that in years ...

Those Bayliss and Edwards battles were epic ... Edwards on the then new VTR1000SP1 ... twin battles were awesome. Man that VTR had grunt in a straight line, Edwards made that bike something to be proud of for Honda.

    MotoGP

Yeah in 1985 he did that ...

You're not talking about Pedro I take it ...

    MotoGP

Ja, the difference is Doohan did not take crap ... he was a hard man, almost losing his leg and riding soon after the op. Remember seeing him crash, crawl back to his bike, pull over his leg with his hands and ride off.

Yup something I think Stoner did not learn, or maybe did not care about. But man, he had natural talent ... apparently he climbed on the LCR Honda for the 1st time, and was right away almost on par with the other guys who had ridden the bike for a year

    MotoGP

What is/was your opinion on Stoner wrt natural talent? Ja he needs to grow up and stop having a win it or bin it attitude ...

    MotoGP

True dat. And the way Rossi is going he can go for another 4 years or even longer who knows ... He's already made a big impression on the sport. Is there anybody else who won the championship in his 1st year? And anyone who won 10 races in a row?

Hey that's what Rossi did the week-end to MM ! Where's the stirring pot icon. Poor you guys, he's just 22, still a llooooonnnggg time he's gonna be in your faces haha.
  12. mtbride

    MotoGP

True, he wanted MM off his back and off his wheel by slowing him down and creating a gap.

Then you know what it is and note my stance have changed since the initial time this all began.

    MotoGP

Totally agree. Think in his mind he though VR was going to start turning in as they were on the adge of the track, but he did not. MM had nowhere else to go, either off the track or stop or lean. Agree, he caused his own fall. But Race Direction sees it the going wide as causing him to go down, and that action of a rider is against rules.

    MotoGP

50/50 on what his intentions was then, whether he let him through or made a genuine mistake.

    MotoGP

Except for the fact that JL was faster than Rossi the whole race ... Rossi could not match JL on any lap, except for one lap. Could be he had the pace to match Rossi but not Lorenzo, especially in the beginning of the race when JL is always very fast. But ja, probably a 50/50 here on what he did then
  17. mtbride

    MotoGP

Not my call to make, it's Race Directions call they made. He broke a rule in the rulebook, plain and simple.
  18. mtbride

    MotoGP

I know that, the official rule Rossi broke was irresponsible riding causing another rider to crash, as per Race Direction. Same as Simoncelli did to Pedrosa for example.

    MotoGP

He had problems in turn 4 the whole week-end, don't tell me that he gifted JL the pass, unless you think him and JL arranged it before hand that turn 4 will be the place ... So a normal hard pass is now a kamakazi move ... if Rossi did not say anything Thursday, you would have thought it was a normal hard pass like any other seen 1 million times. In fact it was clean passes considering what he has done in the past. I agree that he did interfere with Rossi and probably deserved what he got after Rossi got frustrated, but he only broke some "unwritten" rule, not an official rule. There are various other times in bike racing that this has happened, in particular by a guy named Capirossi in his time. Does not make it right though.

    MotoGP

Unfortunately the one tyre rule has decided more championships than one would think. One year it suits one bike manu and th next the other. Its the dumbest rule ever. Reckon thats what caused stoner to start crashing more and more, just could not get the front end heated up on the duc

    MotoGP

Stoner repeatedly asked Ducati to change things on the bike, but they never did because he was winning! Maybe if they listened it could have been a bike more than just he could ride and win with.
  22. mtbride

    MotoGP

Totally possible ... like Capirossi did with the dutch guy couple years ago. 3 other Italians ganged up and ran him wide etc.

Can't believe these 2 are now racing against each other http://www.gpone.com/images/ARCHIVIO/2013/Foto/04_Aprile/rossi-marquez.JPG btw how do i post pictures directly in the comments? Must it 1st be in your gallery or whatever?
  24. mtbride

    MotoGP

Yup, proves that it's about the bike as well, not just about the rider. Think Honda said that to Rossi at some stage and that's one of the reasons he left Honda, whoever read his book can maybe confirm that.

Ja, one they could not fix in "80 seconds" ...
