  1. So I'm running wide lightning rims on 1 x 10 slx crank with raceface ring setup. Will I be able to upgrade to 11 cassette (11-42) by only buying the new cassette and new shifter? And i take it the current XT RD model will work on the 11 casette without issues?
  2. I won't pay 30k to hike-a-bike every day ... yesterday it looked like a hiking trail with everyone walking in a row, seems people just accept it that the guy behind them is also walking, everyone walking in the middle of the path ... Does anyone think they actually care about South Africans riding, no they don't, its getting cheaper for the foreigners every year with the rand weakening, so people will line up and pay whatever
  3. R475 for ESI XC FIT grips ... insane. Will stick with my ESI chunkies, don't see the supposed hype of those new ones actually being any benefit. Matched with my Northern Wave full gloves I have no issues
  4. What bar, stem and post did you get? Interested as there's not many that fit the Anthem if I'm correct, stem-wise? Thanks Rolling the same bike (2014 though), with the WL rims (RoRo and RaRa snakeskin tubeless) and 1x10 conversion, it's sitting at 11,7kg now, Large
  5. Lost my leatherman crater at red barn the weekend .. Dammit. Phoned them but does not seem like its been returned, maybe found though ... http://www.google.co.za/imgres?imgurl=http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81WzLa90F9L._SL1500_.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.amazon.com/Leatherman-Crater-C33-Folding-Knife/dp/B00H8GKYK0&h=1213&w=1500&tbnid=dRHMN1ZpMrDc_M:&zoom=1&docid=v-PSsHB76P301M&hl=en-US&ei=K7a2VLWWGsS5UbaCgZgK&tbm=isch
  6. I take it this will be SASeeding ? This is great news, this year people walked the 1st 2km ...
  7. Is there no place in SA that stocks 2.1 size Schwalbe's?
  8. I loosen both bolts on the caliper, then hold in the brake lever, and tighten the top/front bolt, then release and again hold the brake lever and then tighten the bottom/back one ... worked for me. I've also gently bent my rotors with my thumb if they touch in certain areas when spinning the wheel.
  9. These are my latest purchases, the 34T chainring and Look STrack pedals Did the black route/s at Hakahana on the week-end, that 34 made me hurt! But at least no chain drops with the clutch XT at the back.
  10. I'm 68kg, running tubes with 29er Racing Ralphs 2.25, front 1.7 and back 1.9 Ride all kinds of stuff, from road to magalies monster to hakahana trails on same pressures.
  11. Yup, would have even been 74th in Batch A out of 95, stuck in Bitch D for now ...
  12. In my case because of a better seeding batch they got maybe 3 years ago ... and now they have not trained for a year, thus me catching up with them. The only thing for me to do is to get to a better batch by hard training, and thus ensure I do not get held up again hopefully.
  13. In my case they were in front because of a better seeding, which technically means I should have never caught them ... But I'm working my way up and can then maybe avoid frustrations like this. I started in Batch D, and would have been placed 5th in Batch C with my time.
  14. It's damn frustrating ... but I guess not much you can do about it. I bombed past after being stuck behind a guy from a higher batch this week-end, and knocked my head against a branch quite hard ... serves me right for plukking my moer ...
  15. Did you buy the bolts on their site too or used the bolts from the standard SLX crank?
  16. I've read about issues with the 32T Raceface being a tight fit on the SLX spider, and spacers needed to make it run clear, and not sure if I can manage a 34T with my legs. 1. Has anyone done this conversion with Rapide 32T, and was there any "tricks" to it? 2. Wonder if it has the same issues in the 32T size touching the spider? 3. How much shorter should the chain be made? Running standard setup on a 2014 Anthem X1. 4. Do I need different chainring bolts too or can I use the existing ones? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
  17. As for the weight saving, I guesstimated mine at about 400grams, removing a SLX FD and SLX shifter + cables and then installing a Raceface 32 TWN. Looked up the FD and shifter as well as Raceface weight, so should be pretty close.
  18. So what shop/s / private person do you guys recommend (in PTA/Centurion region)to do the service on a Fox Float 32 EVO fork and shock on a Anthem X1 29er and what would it cost? I've watched a couple of youtube videos on this and see there's a 30 hour and 100 hour service to be done, looking at the 30 hour one for now. Have already done approx. 70 hours with no maintenance so it's probably time ...
  19. That rainmaker article is the best info for these types of issues. If you want to sort it out permanently get a Polar strap with the Garmin HRM as per the article.

    MotoGP

I believe Repsol is happy having MM and DP, DP is a good 2nd rider, and won't get tangled with MM too much, that's what you want, not 2 riders taking each others eyes out ...
  21. Looks like that is for the 2013 model, as I understand the 2014 one is improved, but it can still be improved for 2015
  22. Friends Nude shock packed up twice, costing R1200 to fix ... lost pressure like a flat tyre. I like the rear FOX, no problem there, but the 2014 FOX fork does seem to stick more than a Reba or so. Where can one upgrade the internals in SA?
  23. I totally agree with this, at Hakahana's black route, the travel of the shock at the back helps alot with the rocky climbs there. The guys on the hardtails had to walk some sections, where I rode them. It just makes sense to have squish and not bounce off rocks.
  24. Picked up my X1 for R22500 in January ... The SLX and Deore XT comps are flawless and the suspension works awesome, I run it soft to get full travel though, but I only weigh 68kg ... Next upgrade will certainly be new wheelset with tubeless, still running HEAVY slime inners
  25. Thanks for the help!
