Karkloof Club are now custodians if the Howick trails. You will need to pay them at the club house in order to ride any of the Howick trails. Not sure if any of the marked trails go anywhere near the howick Firetower trails (Gums, Pines, Kathryn's, Face), but they do go out towards Syd Vicious (near Curry's Post Road) on the 37 and 42km marked routes.

Rule of thumb in the cycling industry: Cheap, strong, light... pick 2. Ie: if you pick strong and light, it won't be cheap

Do Puffies normally raise their heads like that? None of all the Puffies I've seen at Cascades have done that.

I have had the same issue for years now. It started before I began riding, and has gotten worse. I have had multiple tests done (bloods for things like rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation markers, etc), xrays, etc by Neurologist and Specialist Physician all coming back clear. I have been to Biokineticist's, Physio's, Chiro's, etc and only found temporary relief. I was eventually told by the Specialist Physician (and a Bio prior to that) that the pain is probably caused by my posture and lifestyle (I sit many hours for work, driving and desk), and that although the mountain biking probably hasn't cause the issue, it's not helping. I was told to strengthen my core significantly, and stretch frequently, preferably by yoga or pilates. I have recently started the process of trying to strengthen the core, and do some yoga stretches after every ride. No change yet but its early days. Hope this helps

I believe on the last EWS race last year one of the top riders was carrying somethin like 3 rear derailuers, just because he had to finish the race to podium for the season, so he wasn't taking any chances
