I am well aware of the cost implications of tv coverage. I therefor do no expect full coverage of everybody that rides. But some footage from a drone of the rest of the riders would be nice.
And showing the category results for the amateur classes at the end of the days highlights would also be nice. And yes, I know you can look it up on the internet. Else, why bother with even having these categories. Might as well then be: Pros vs the rest

If I had the money I would by myself a custom built wheelset. Something like Nick suggested or from a Cape Town company.
But then again, lighter, more expensive wheels don't make you a better cyclist.
I find the differences in the style of racing between the men and woman fascinating. The woman seem far less secure in what they do - they are for ever on the radios or dropping back to the cars. And this is not just SD Works.
Ashley: They were talking about her yesterday during the coverage of the race and commented on how well she is riding this season. Her change in training as well as the change in team were some of the things mentioned.
Having watched all the races this weekend, I do feel that the course seemed a gravelly. It made for high speed, interval racing.
It did have a lot of climbing in it but with only one run section. For a purpose built course they could have added a bit more variety.
We did it Sept 2020. They allowed it but we had to have the escort. The whole group had to ride together and it took quite a while for the escort to arrive. We also had a following vehicle that acted as the second vehicle.
The staff were friendly and we did see some elephants on the way. So I understand their reasoning behind it.
I watched both races and while not as exciting as some of the other CX races the snow had an interesting dynamic. Everybody had to adapt and some fared better than others. You had to be smooth

Not suitable for my style of riding but very nice bike
I ride a Schwinn CX bike from 2004 (I think). 9 speed and rim brakes. It is limited to the maximum width of tire it can take but the rims have been converted to tubeless.
Lots of fun. It even makes a good commuter.
Maybe have a lookout for older bikes.
That was indeed a proper course for a World Champs. The sand might have favored some more than others. But there is no doughty about it, you had to be fit.

A steel frame with carbon fork. Can't afford a custom titanium. 
My mtb is steel. The cyclo-cross is alu.
Forgot to mention but look at the size and width of tire you would like to ride. A lot of the bikes has limited width. The Norco in 700c is only 42mm
The Momson is value for money
There are lots of aspects at play when choosing a bike. Just take the frame and fork because the components are fairly generic and can easily be changed. (Might cost money though)
Regardless of the type of material, the design, geometry and quality of the material will make the biggest difference. Cheap steel will not be the same as very expensive steel. Expensive carbon frame cost more because of the carbon layup and work needed to do so. You can feel the difference.
Does the bike have a carbon, steel, titanium fork.? What are the characteristics of it.
I have owned various cyclo-cross bikes. All alu. Cheap as chips Schwinn rides far better to me than the Giant I had. Just didn't gell with the geometry.
Go and ride the bike. I know what I would buy.
If you still own a 26er and haven't ridden a 29er, just go and take a 29er hardtail for a ride. You will be amazed at the difference. Not saying you shouldn't try a gravel bike.
But it is most certainly not a style or riding suited to everybody. Unlike what the marketing people like to say.

Those days when nobody had helmets, cycling shorts were for roadies and suspension did not exist .
