  1. Finally completed her last night. Her name is Liela The wheels are old. Don't have the bucks now to buy new hoops as well. Stem is loaner from other bike. Until I find correct length (Thomson 90mm?) Still to be done: get a stem, XT ice tech rotors and get rid of the creak Longer term changes: get a Lefty and new wheels And take her for a proper ride this weekend :-)
  2. Has anyone seen the new Niner RDO cogs? Very, very nice And it comes in a rooi blikkie

  5. Uiteindelik! And this is the proper use of the couch
  6. I take another road from Durbanville to the city past Century City (Bosmansdam road). I go over Jip de Jager, Hendrik Verwoerd, le Sueur, a couple of left and rights in Imhoff in Monta Vista and then into Edgemead Dr towards Bosmansdam. Worst bit is passing over N7 and Montagu Gardens. The road has far less debre on it than your road At the moment I have to go to clients but should be back next week
  7. My medium is not available
  8. Lekker wiele, BAMF_SS!
  9. Cyclo-cross. But it is not easy to find one. Of 'n swart dikwiel
  10. Dis 'n mooi fiets
  11. Dude, I have worked all over Africa and I am telling you to forget it. Save yourself a pile of frustrasion and green us dollars and leave the bike at home. No border official is as nice as you would like them to be. Rather borrow someones swartdikwiel and cruise around. Or buy a cheap Chinese bike there. It will be cheaper. Or start running
  12. Dankie. Goed om te weet. Ek kyk maar altyd rond maar jy weet nooit Ek is eers 18:00 huistoe en daar was polisie kar wat heen en weer gery het
  13. There is a BMC for sale. Two months old, so it had to have been build for SSWC
  14. The biggest lesson with cycling in the wind is to always be aware of gusts of wind. And then of cause the fact that you waste your energy to try and fight the wind. Accept that you will go slower and just keep on cycling. It is like swimming, you are not stronger that water so don't fight it. And you will become stronger. Amost like cycling uphill all the time
  15. I am also looking but all I find is $1500 + frames. And the rand is not exactly in our faviour. My quest continues The Santa Cruz Highball is around 7k
  16. So, it was a beautiful day today and I thought I will take the long way from Durbanville to the city via Tableview. A low and behold I get a flat even with knoble tire, tire liner and stans in the tube. Sometimes not your day Thanks to the 2 guys on ridged mtb's( nice Niner!) and the fast and friendly red fixie guy for overing help. To the rest, thanks for nothing Moral of the story: always go prepared with extra tubes. And of course food. My choice an apple in the morning and jungle bar in afternoon.
  17. I measure my fitness according to how often blow up on my way home. I am now down to maybe once or twice a week. This 70k a day and hills at the end of the day is sometimes a killer
  18. I am the guy on the avo bike with a carrier :-)
  19. Steffi, I also cycle but am a bit inconsistent with time that I leave office. Will look out for you. Don't use the N1. As a beginner that is not way to go. And besides why do we have a cycle path?
  20. Genade! Now I will realy need to start saving for one of those mooi fietse. Reynolds 853 steel bike. But don't stop sending ideas
  21. I can live with a Lynskey and I like the paintjob on the Swift A frame with sliders or ebb will be it
  22. I am looking for ideas for higher end single speed specific frames for a project. Rigid or suspention at front. Thinking about Niner SIR9, Santa Cruz Highball, Cannondale with Lefty There are some serious expensive titanium frames but that is out of my league Any ideas?
  23. Hairy, you are not allowed to post pictures like that. That is an awesome bike. Brand/ model?
  24. Sjoe, maar dis blink wiele daai
  25. Dalem, the cheapest way is to just keep your bike in one gear. Do this by locking your rear deraileur in place with the screws that you use to set the limits. Next, break your casset into pieces by removing the bolts that keep it all together. Find another discarded casset and do thr same. This is done to get the spacers. Now, play around to find the gear ratio that works for you. Middle blade at front and something like 18 at back. Now stick your selected gear for the back together with the spacers on the hub with the gear aligned with the front blade. Now remove all the other bits and cables. This might not be a longterm solution or be very ellegant but it is cheap. The beter solution would be to buy a spacer kit with stronger gear for back as well as a proper chain tensioner Hope all of that made sense
