  1. I love my SS Ritchey P-29er. Best bike I have owned
  2. And with Option 2, Cloetesville has had its fair share of incidents in the past
  3. Very nice build. And nice bike. Do keep the pictures coming I do find it interesting that the newer bikes are not much lighter than previous generation bikes. My stock standard Cervelo from 2006 (and not nearly the top-of-the-line version) weight 7.1kg.
  4. It is all about experience at running the maronthon style of running. It is completely different to triathlon. Her times should drop as se runs more marathons. Another thing: the Olympic maratons in general seem to be run slower and more tactical as opposed to all out speed.
  5. Thanks, FatFossil and nathrix. Have been considering these bars
  6. You can put any pedal on your bike. Road, mtb, flatpedals. Try the road pedals and see if it suits your needs. Just remember that the cleats don't make for easy walking. Right in the beginning of mtb in this country we didn't have mtb pedals yet. So we used road pedals and shoes. And man, did I stuff those shoes up. But we had great fun
  7. What brand / model bars are those?
  8. I visited a friend in JHB last weekend and we rode the spruit on Sunday. Rather surprised to see two people on SS bikes. At least there are still SS bikes in use By the way: the spruit is actually perfect for somebody new to single speed bikes
  9. It has been asked earlier but unless you specify what type of frame (mtb, road, CX), properties of the Ti and how it was made (handmade, mass produced), one can not make a call on yes or no. Yes, I will pay R40k for a handmade top-quality Ti frame. But you are welcome to be taken for a ride and overpay R40k for a sub-quality frame.
  10. Chain: 6 or 7-speed. Cheap and lasts. Chainrings: you can run any of the older chainrings. Sized to your needs. Might to easier to get hold of than SS specific. Becuase you don't shift gears it should stay in place.
  11. If that is all you like to spend, rather look for a normal second-hand bike and convert it into a single speed. You will have far more options as to what you can buy. For the groupset: all you really then care about is the condition of the crank (and the brakes). The rest you will eliminate. My 2c
  12. Eendag gaan jy dit reg gespel kry ..... 32 of 33
  13. Look at: Tygerberg - http://www.tygerbergmtb.co.za Bottelary - http://bottelaryconservancy.co.za/mtb/
  14. Whether it is a wetsuit swim r not will depend on the water temperature and the discretion of the race referee. This will be determined on the morning of the race. If you have a wetsuit, take it with. But rather be prepared to swim without one that expecting to be able to do so. Unless you are older than 75 years in which case it is always allowed.
  15. If the nose of the saddle is pointing downwards you will slide forward and that will put pressure the arms. Raise the nose slightly up. Remember that you have only started riding in the tri position. It takes a long time to adjust the body to riding like that. Legs, back, arms, neck all have to get used to it. As the other have said, ride, adjust, ride, adjust, .... until you are comfy
  16. Do not buy the Adidas glasses. They break. My wife is blessed with terrible eyesight. She had prescriptions made for her Adidas glasses because she had the glasses already. Glasses broke, not the inserts. Got another pair of glasses. Broke again. Always between the eyes., above the nose. And she does not abuse her glasses. She is back to riding with her contact lenses and trusty Rudy Projects
  17. I think it is really awesome. Cervelo has always had great bikes. Great that we are seeing tri bikes that are free from UCI constraints. And, yes, the Pros will be racing it at Kona. Just a shame I wouldn't be able to afford it. Ever!
  18. To emulate SS: just get a decent ratio (34x20) and don't change gears for the whole ride. That way it won't cost you a cent to try it. Not so easy to not change up or down but focus. After 5 years I still catch myself wanting to change gears at times.
  19. Mark, those were incredible light bikes for their time. Unfortunately, they also had the tendency to crack. The original had a white steel fork. No suspension. I think a carbon rigid would work well with it. Maybe even painted white
  20. The reality is that very few people can ride technical stuff. They also don't want to invest in learning how. Because mountain biking is riding on a flat gravel road with you 29er ....
  21. I have seen a couple on bikes. Think there are so many aspects that come into play, eg. type of motorcycle, the luggage racks (or not) fitted to the motorcycle, the type of bicycle being fitted, etc. It might just be easier to go to a fabricator that can weld on together for you. Or modify an existing one that fits a roofrack.
  22. Cool bike. Met 'n Brooks. Geniet die SS
  23. Do you have any more pictures of the enduro bike setup? Looks interesting
