  1. Sien uit na die nuwe paadjies. Dankie Die bladsye (en baie ander dinge) het verlore geraak toe die hub omgeval het
  2. Time to start then ...
  3. The Kashmir frame looks like an alternative. Question is: are they available? I did Sani now on SS. You have to be riding fit to do it. The arms can get a bit tired
  4. My 29er fiets don't fit in Thule box. But it is a great product.
  5. One of my dream bikes . . . with lots of history
  6. Keep left and let him (they) deal with with the oncomming traffic. Will quickly learn (might be the hard way)
  7. Alternatively you need seriously strong legs
  8. For those who are slightly more technically inclined: http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/chain-drive-or-belt-drive-whos-faster
  9. Nice looking bike. I run some Ritchey carbon risers on my SS and they work fine. Haven't tried the 10 degree bars. Answer also have a new wrist friendly bar out

  14. Regarding the plastidip / vinel protection for frame; where do I find plastidip?
  15. Lekker fiets. Mine is almost the same and it is a great ride. Feels like a big wheel mbx. I got new hoops this week Mavic C29max. Still to try them out. I like my bike!
  16. I finally received my order from the island today. Toys for the SS: Gusset spacer and cogs for Liela and DMR kit for the avo bike. Already fitted, it is time to go and play :-)

    SSCX

My SSCX that I commute with runs on 39x17. But it is not of much use when going off-road. Or you need seriously strong legs Like the bike. Maybe time I upgrade to a steel CX....

    SSCX

I have an avo green Schinn CX. My commuting bike. Threw the groupset away and put some flatbars on. Don't like racing bars in traffic. Biggest thing with riding on the trails is the gearing. The road crankset don't run small blades. Although a mtb crank will fit. That makes me think....
  20. Alas, none of those beauties are South African. I should rather have said commuting is not perceived to be cool by SA people in metal boxes. But having a fixie is currently cool. That is until the next best thing comes along. But I did have a good time looking at people in metal boxes this evening with Hairy, et al.
  21. I find it rather interesting that people who are 'cyclists' (and I refer to those who only train/ exersize/race) persieve those who ride bicycles as a means of transport not as cyclist. That somehow the more expensive the bike the more of a cylist you are. If you don't have the lastest, most flashy and brand name, then you are a nobody. The reality is that those same people mostly cover far more distince than any one of those 'cyclist'. Those same nobodies are also far more friendly and more likely to greet you. The long and short is that commuting is not perceived as being cool. Also we live in country were we sometimes stay far away from our place of work. I stay 35km from work and commute. In Holland you are halfway on your way to Germany by then. And people are butt lazy
  22. Time for a lekker holiday
  23. So I took the Ritchey for an 8 hour maiden spin around Cape Town (Tokai, Silvermine, etc.) Sweet loving fun. Fits perfectly Only issue: an anoying creak. But sure that will be sorted
  24. Rouxtjie, dis 'n Fouriers 34 T. Kom van Cape Cycle Systems. Single speed blade. Dangle het dit voorgestel.
  25. Finally completed her last night. Her name is Liela The wheels are old. Don't have the bucks now to buy new hoops as well. Stem is loaner from other bike. Until I find correct length (Thomson 90mm?) Still to be done: get a stem, XT ice tech rotors and get rid of the creak Longer term changes: get a Lefty and new wheels And take her for a proper ride this weekend :-)
