  1. And PhilGil wasn't about to chase either. Happy with his third. Showing good form ahead of PR. I really think this could be PhilGil's year to win it. The one monument I would dearly love for him to add to his palmares. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

Morkel has a side strain. And Shaun Pollock reckons KG is also feeling a bit run down. Faf giving the bowlers a spot of rest and setting a world record chase for the Aussies. Our lead's already more than the highest successful chase at the Wanderers. And pitch also showing signs of variable bounce and a fair bit of spin too. I think Maharaj will be a serious handful when we bowl again. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk
  3. A huge effort for a well deserved win. First Dutchie to win it in 3 decades too. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk
  4. Pedersen the rider of the day imho. Spent a good portion of his race in the break as well. One to look out for in the future. Class performance from the big Danish champ. Also impressed with Oli Naesen's ride. To get back the way he did after that bad crash shows his mettle. Terpstra just brilliant. The wolfpack's tactics have been nothing but spot on. 488 all out. Gutted for Bavuma but that's cricket for you. He kept the second half of the innings together nicely and a share in three vital partnerships. Hoping our bowlers will ram home the advantage. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

Crazy situation that. And one that is very easy to correct. Ban players that have criminal charges/records for attacking their partner's/spouses/women. That they don't is beyond imagining. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

None. But Markram has been punishing the Aussie bowlers big time. And AB hasn't fired yet! Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk
  8. Anyone willing to make predictions? Mine: either a QSer or Sagan. Dark horse bet: Oli Naesen. More the romantic in me. Loved seeing PhilGil win RVV in the Belgian colours and it would be nice to see another rider win wearing the Belgian champs jersey. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

Personally I would bet that Smith did so but in private. Most of mates in Aus are painting the picture of a good guy who made a huge mistake. I genuinely feel a bit for him. Not that this makes right the wrong of course but I hope for cricket's sake Smith can get about fixing the damage he has done which he seems keen on. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

This op-ed by Mark Nicholas is worth a read and quite frankly I agree with the major points of his argument. That he references to great Kiwi captains for whom I have nothing but greatest respect and admiration kinda helps too. The game as a whole needs to step back and remember what cricket should be, a game played hard, fair and with respect for all. Bans as I had suspected once the top brass got involved. Good on CA on taking such action and setting a standard ito punishing this form of cheating. Still feel there is more players involved but if there is no evidence then there is not much that can be done. Lehmann also needs to go. Let's hope that happens. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

Afaik CSA's transformation programme goes from grassroots up. And not from the national team down. But yes there I do agree with you the more we can get talented kids into system the better. Especially if we can get those kids into schools like KES, St Stithians, Bishops, Rondebosch and Cambridge would help greatly ito the coaching that they'll receive. Also if we could improve the level of coaching these players receive while still in the age group set up that will help as well. Additionally we need these kids to make it into the professional game in numbers so that we can have the luxury to select the quality one's for the national teams. Couple guys there with real potential. Especially Hamza and Muthusamy. I am hoping that they'll be in the runs again next season to help their case along. Ditto for Second and Mulder as well actually. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

Then sadly you and I need to agree to disagree on this. I actually think CSA has done really good work on the transformation of the team. I genuinely hold all of the current test squad in high regard and have no issues with any of them being there. Selection is a tricky issue that's been made harder by the politicians who don't necessarily see the need for a winning team. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

From the same article that you gave the link too: That means Bavuma and Ngidi could get the nod, and it is important to note that they are both regarded as equally deserving of a spot as the men they would be displacing. And that is what is at play here for me beyond the transformation debate. And it is something that worryingly seems to have gone missing from view. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

Bavuma has also played a number of knocks contained in his fifties that have helped sway the matches in South Africa's favour or helped save us from further embarrassment. His lone hundred came against England at Cape Town in a match that we so far behind it was nought but impossible to see a draw come from it. And his was one of a few that helped get a draw. Similarly in Aus in the tests we won in our last series there he and QdK shared stands that helped give us parity that the bowlers then capitalized on. Again the same thing against New Zealand in New Zealand. A similar thing happened against Bangladesh earlier in our summer and this time it was Faf that also benefited from his performances. De Bruyn hasn't even done that yet. A partnership of significance that swayed a match in our favour or help get a draw. And he has been in and out of the side since the New Zealand series so I do concede that he hasn't probably had a fair chance but you do need to deliver when you're given the opportunity. Starts aren't good enough. That 36 that De Bruyn got in the first against Aus needed to be at least a 50. De Bruyn like Bavuma has faced the three best fast bowling units in the world (NZld, Eng & Aus) with nothing to show for it. Bavuma at least has something to show for it. You are looking at averages alone and I can tell you now it is resulting in a blinkered view of each player. When you get your runs is as important as how many you got. De Bruyn's failures are a worry because no one else has shown the same level of consistency in our domestic cricket. Based purely on look I reckon that De Bruyn can make the step up but based on results so far we are sitting with a saffer version of Micheal Bevan. Here's a link to his profile: http://m.espncricinfo.com/australia/content/player/4144.html Please note his test average is also less than Bavuma's and he doesn't have a test hundred despite many hundreds in ODI matches. So in context Bavuma's numbers aren't great but it is not to say he can't improve. Obviously the same is true regarding De Bruyn but he does need to deliver when he gets given his next opportunity. AB and Hash are fast approaching the end of their careers and these guys need to be ready to take over when that happens. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

That's why I have an issue with TdB. If he is such a better batsman then he should've made far better use than what TB has. At international level TB has been the better batsman. Fact. I am not saying TdB doesn't deserve a chance but when he does get it he must get a score, a decent one. In the same manner that Markram has locked up the openers berth for the next while by way of example. Until TdB bring his domestic form into international cricket I would much prefer Bavuma. Don't quite believe that D. Boof is a thorough coach. I find it strange that he didn't know exactly what was going on on the field. It would be very out of character. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

Bavuma averages just over 31 in test cricket with 9 fifties and a hundred. De Bruyn averages just over 14 in test cricket with no fifties and no hundreds. So why would you want to drop Bavuma for De Bruyn? Asking because I fail to see a relevant reason why. Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

According to Daniel Brettig it seems that CA and Davey Warner is headed for a break up ala KP & the ECB. Still waiting to see if there will be any further developments concerning other players.
