    Cricket......

Wolfie is a very talented batter and those two fours in the penultimate over went a long way to helping us win. Fantastic stuff from the ladies all tour long. They can very pleased with how well they've done of late.
  2. Couldn't watch the race yesterday due to work and checked it while watching the replay. Not sure why MVDP did that but my guess is that Bennett may have felt that his brakes were overheating? Otherwise I'm thinking that's just a prank.

It certainly will be. India will want to prove that making the final of the WWT20 wasn't a fluke and our girls will want to continue their good form from that tournament and the successful home series against Pakistan.

The first T20I is today. Looking forward to how our ladies go in the shortest format!

And then they bowl us out cheapo in the semis too. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] A cake walk win for them. WRT the 4 Day Franchise series the guy I have been most impressed by has been Van Tonder. To my best knowledge it is his full season of elite level domestic cricket and he has done incredibly well. Looks like a batter that puts a high price on his wicket. Pieter Malan also turned his season around beautifully and should be back in the discussion for replacing Faf. Looking forward to the final in Durbs between the two form teams for this season. It should be a cracker.

Yeah sorta half following the legends matches. Been more focused on the Ladies series against India. Remarkable win for them. Also the India England T20I's have been good as well. There have been some very impressive performances in the 4 Day Franchise series. However ito Verreyne I was purely thinking of him being picked as a batsman and nothing else. The keeping ability being a pleasant plus for just in case.
  7. Still hoping that PhilGil will be able to add MSR to his palmares but that boat has probably already sailed.

    GCN+

Some lekker news if you're into women's racing: The Healthy Aging Tour will be broadcast by GCN+. It will be available for all territories, which is fantastic and will give the women some much needed television coverage.
  9. Just imagine how animated she would be if she actually won! Cecilie is such a fantastic fun interviewee!
  10. Time is the one thing he doesn't have on his side if he still wants to add MSR to his palmares. Regardless of whether he does or not he will rightfully go down as a classics legend. And it isn't a stretch of the imagination to think that MVDP, WvA and JA will have a similarly storied careers.

Our situation would be helped if we could start finding the back of the net. But ja, Pool is looking very bereft of ideas.

A well deserved win. They defended brilliantly in the second half despite what my beloved Reds threw at them. From Fortress Anfield to Anfield Failures!
  13. SB-W delivered an action packed race and so did the Men's race. Absolute scenes in Siena and her white roads! Both Van Der Broek Blaak and Van Der Poel where deserved winners. Some incredible rides by others in both races as well. Man there's going to be loads to talk about from this race heading into MSR with Van Der Poel being an obvious favourite to win that as well. Also hats off to Qhubeka for a being a presence in the race and to Gogl for getting a fine 6th place.
  14. Especially when you consider how well she's previously done at the Giro Donne and her overall record. Afaik no plans to retire soon so perhaps there is still time for her add one to her brilliant list of wins. Marianne Merckx indeed. Speaking of ladies who have yet to win SB: can't wait for Cecilie Utripp Ludwig, Kasia Nieuwiadioma and our Ashleigh Moolman Pasio to do so. I reckon when Cecilie wins it we'll get one of the best interviews/result responses ever given that she seems to have no filter with that!
  15. On GCN+ the broadcast of the Ladies start at 13:30 and the broadcast for the Men's starts at 14:50. Looking forward to it!

A step in the right direction. Definitely too much on the plate for QdK. Was happy to see him given a break for T20 Challenge. Temba's appointment means he is going to get an extended run and personally I hope he will continue to open the batting with QdK. They make for a solid opening partnership as we saw in the series against England and Australia last season. It also makes the test batting line up a bit more sure and the only real discussion will be where to bat whoever replaces Faf. Personally I want either of Peterson or Van Tonder or Verreyne who all have been impressive this season. And in both Peterson and Verreyne's case over the past few seasons. With Verreyne you'll probably want him at four, whereas with Peterson and Van Tonder it's a case of three or four. Would be keen to hear your thoughts on the batting line up?
  17. With the women's XCO races there is several potential winners whereas on the men's side it's less than a handful. The unpredictability of the women's racing is very definitely a big part of why it's entertaining!
  18. That definitely doesn't sit right nor does the idea that a good portion of the women's peloton are poorly paid if at all. One can understand why most of them make the most of their social media presence to push their various sponsors products or the products of people they've met through their careers. Fortunately as Gen points out there is an effort being made to change this particular situation. Honestly it is refreshing to see the efforts and commitment from the Flanders Classics team. Hopefully theirs will help other role players commit as well to change how things are currently. A lot of it is rooted in the need to change the perception regarding women's racing and women racers, in fact for most of women's sport in general. And by that I mean that is that we speak of their achievements in the same way as we would those of a male athlete. Once that happens I reckon the money side of things will fall into place but in between then and now there's still a lot of hard work that needs to be done to get us there.
  19. I think an argument can be made that that is the case for most of the women's races or at least for the ones that I have witnessed. Rarely is the win (by a specific rider) a foregone conclusion and the races are often pretty close. The La Course that Annemiek Van Vleuten won by chasing Anna Van der Breggen down and hauling her in on the line springs to mind as an example. All in all I have generally found that the women's races very entertaining. As for Le Samyn Des Dames I think we got a great winner in Lotte Kopecky and her team worked really hard to ensure that she had the best shot possible at the win and she delivered it.
  20. There should be a subsection on the GCN website explaining it all and showing what racing you will be able to view. I did my purchase through the app via the Race TV tab. I have used both data and WiFi to stream it but WiFi is the cheaper option for sure.
  21. It took a while to get going but once sorted it was really good tbh. Willing to give them the benefit of the doubt wrt what happened yesterday and looking forward to Le Samyn tomorrow. Personally I find it a good product.
  22. Sounds like you guys need to add a GCN+ subscription to your DSTV one as they now have the broadcasting rights for all the RCS organised races. Plus a few others and some rad additional content. I know they are working on getting RVV as well and I hope that they'll get PR as well.

    Cricket......

Turned out to be quite a tense match given how well the Lions bowled during the Dolphin's innings. A little wobble that got course corrected by Mulder and Potgieter with Fortuin smacking the winning runs. I just loved that the two best teams from the group phase were the ones playing in the final. And it was a good final! Here's some highlights: CSA T20 Challenge | Final | Hollywoodbets Dolphins v Imperial Lions | Highlights - YouTube
  24. Apparently that was Mads Pedersen but brilliant work from Stuyven to get him into position once the race was brought back together. Kudo's to Trek for salvaging their weekend. Another solid ride from Pidcock as well. He is going to be one to look out for this season.
