  1. 2nd ever CTCT this year, was meant to do it last year but fell and broke my collarbone a week before, this year I made sure to be extra careful. 😆 Started in 3E, great to be in an earlier batch, my mate dropped down from 2C and we rode together the whole way. Most of the time we spent looking for groups to join, but it felt as soon as we joined one it would fall apart. I also rode for SPCA this year which was a vibe, so was great to meet and greet other SPCA riders during the day. Shame, there was a female rider also that looked like she had a really bad fall, she was under a space blanket and her face was covered in blood. Think it was on downhill of Chappies? Not sure. Hope she's ok. Had one unfriendly encounter where a chap cut in front of us going down just past Suikerbossie without looking, when my mate called him out on it he started swearing at us saying there was more than enough space for us to pass. However, where he cut us off was hay bales on the side, leaving less space than we wanted. All-in-all, fantastic day and really enjoyable! "The bigboy club"
  2. Wife & her friend had an attempted mugging on Helshoogte pass at around 6:20 Sunday morning. There was a group of 4 of us, myself and another friend were slightly ahead from them. It happened around the first corner to the right, when he jumped out the bush behind the railing about 5m away from with a gun demanding them to stop. Which she and her responded with a F that and sprinted as fast as they could. Another cyclist called the local armed response, but he was gone by then. She's a bit shaken still, but doing fine otherwise.
  3. First tour for me, finishing at 4:15ish, thoroughly enjoyed it! I don't have anything to compare it to, but really enjoyed the gees and views. Not much of a road cyclist, but quickly picked up on keeping left and passing right (while notifying the rider ahead of me). Was a bit of a struggle passing the slower riders in the beginning on the climbs since I started in the 6H group. Hope to beat sub 4 next year in a better starting time and more training.
  4. Yeah not good at all, hopefully he takes it easy from now on
  5. My mate also crashed at the same spot, fractured a couple of ribs in the back. He also happened to share his hospital room with the guy in the video, that guy suffered a concussion from that crash (apparently not his first or second this year)
  6. Thank you, yeah lets hope nothing happens in the future.
  7. Hi all Does anyone know if the Deer Park route in Vredehoek is a risk zone? Im getting back into cycling and Ive considered going on this route on my own.
