  1. False, I don't battle to keep the front wheel down ever. It does depend on your fit though. I just dropped one spacer and flipped the stem, then I had the same front end height. It did slacken the seat tube unfavorably, but I am able to fully negate that by sliding my seat forward. Edit: pic added. This bike blows my mind every time.
  2. I've got pike 140 on mine, with a dropper. Best bike in the world!
  3. Straight gauge I bought one of these wheelsets and had to rebuild them not long after.
  4. Then I would go for the Rapide hubs with the standard double butted Alpina spokes from Rapide, R9 each. The hubs are smooth with a gentle click. Cartridge bearings mean easy refurbishment if things go pear. My usual favourites are Hope, I like the commotion they cause. Prices are going nuts though.
  5. There are plenty of good options... What exactly will sway your decision? Cost, bling, weight? If you're looking for silent, Hope is not your friend. I recently built using Rapide hubs and their Alpina bladed spokes. Can't fault them - they are light (very light), solidly built and very well priced. Also, Wayne is awesome to deal with, if you order today you'll probably have them tomorrow morning.
  6. I agree here, I also have both and I am noticeably faster on the 29er on most track even though it is heavier. However I love riding both, different characteristics like driving a sports car, then a rally car, then an SUV etc. Point is 26ers never stopped being fun - except for maybe marathons.
  7. My recently completed Blur LTC 140mm build. Pike RCT3 160mm ENVE 800mm DH bars WTB Frequency i25 rims on hope hubs. SLX brakes 180mm, 203mm XT everything else. Oh yes, here is my Blur next to my Tallboy. Edit: bike is now quite different
  8. E bikes are available in all forms, and work really well! There is also www.zebike.co.za who are based in Durban and have just received the mantis which looks like it'll make a great commuter.
  9. The post is mounted back to front, I was able to get better saddle position like that. Can anybody say whether that's bad for the post?
  10. I heard you like Santa Cruz's What do you guys think? Not super bling but clout where it counts?
