  1. Kevin, unless you absolutely need a new mtb, rather go the second hand route. You can buy a much better performing, lighter mtb second hand for that price.
  2. Curious question: I sprayed some Clean Green on my frame as well and left it for a few minutes to soak... now the black paint seems faded? Can I polish it out or something? Only use it on my drivetrain now, and sunlight on rest - but will follow tnt1's advice and stay clear!
  3. Had shimano spd's, nothing wrong with it - faultless performance, but are riding eggbeater sl's now and won't go back...
  4. With posts flying around relating to dodgy sales and bike parts, I thought I should post something positive! I bought some parts from these fellow hubbers the last couple of months and had absolutely no hassles whatsoever - all parts received as advertized, on time , neatly packaged etc. So who are these folks? - some probably dealt with them before, but I want to name them and give some "recognition" : - Mario2 - Hanber - Zaskar - XTC Oke - Speedi Thanks Guys, hope to deal with you soon again!dries1092009-04-23 12:02:04
  5. like dirtbreath said, they clog up quickly in mud and clay. i also find them unnerving under aggressive cornering as they often loose their purchase. seriously, i think it's the worst tyre i've ever put on a bike. Thanks Roller, must say haven't given them a go in the wet, will pray for some rain and give them stick!
  6. What would be the ideal wet / dry tyre then for changing race conditions?
  7. Hi Roller, why do you say that? I'm curious because I have just fitted a set...
  8. Some nice hills in the area if you go out with Lynnwood rd towards Donkerhoek , but on the other side of Lynnwood. A lot of farms and small holdings, great dirt roads with a lot of climbs if you zig zag through them.
  9. Google it... good entry level bike. Mongoose make great mountain bikes - the likes of Meteor elite etc.. heck, Burry Stander rode them once!
  10. Nice bike! Where's the couch?
  11. Well said Kona - logic prevails
  12. First time I saw this thread and now this press release... All I say is F#$% them, I won't support them EVER. Seen some of the crazy prices myself when comparing them to a smaller shop... and they should have the better economies of scale... the saying should be changed - GREED is the mother of all F%$@ ups!!
  13. she is za wanderfull, beeyoutifoel!!
  14. Thanks , will look into it!
  15. Can anyone give some advice on which wheels I can upgrade to - or what my options are? I currently have standard rims that came with my MTB (Silverback nabraska), nothing to get excited about. I'm upgrading the bike a bit, and a bit overwhelmed by all the different rims, hubs etc available So, 1. I weigh 78kg, the bike is a hardtail 2. Its got Juicy 3 disc brakes currently 3. I'm willing to spend no more than R3500 My question is, what rims should I look at, what hubs are good / light? Should I buy them seperately or look for a complete set? Second hand a better option?? dries1092009-03-05 02:09:40
  16. Magtig, maar dit is 'n pragtige fiets!
  17. Depend where you are situated, but Solomons will give a good deasl on the cs200. The wireless up and downloads to and from the polar site is a plus point as well.
  18. Really glossy finish on that floor - woodoc or silkwood? Jokes aside - nice bike, congrats!
  19. There is an adapter available from some bike shops that fit onto your regular towbar fitted rack. It's basically a metal tube with rotating "hooks" on the ends which can fit around wheels, sections of sloping top or down tubes etc. I use it for my 4yr old's bike which have weird angles on the frame. You get the adapters in different sizes. lenghts etc. Works like a charm
  20. Guys, the Scott is still impressive. My view - just loose a kilo or two and youre there. Why spend all that money to get a kilo or some down, when you can drop a kilo from your body weight? - and I'm not talking about the pros who are already super fit and at their optimum power to weight ratio - just a thought...
  21. Having a bad Fri the 13th. Was all excited the whole week about a race tomorrow, only to wake up with a bad case of flu ! sheezz, oh well
  22. Now that is food for thought! But the Research&Development surely differs? The frames have different geometry and so on?
