  1. Most of the hardware is in the shop on consignment basis, so I am sure that the distributors took their stock off the floor by now. Thank you Willie for serving the cycling community so well over the last decade or so. I hope that it is indeed temporary and that we'll see your shop opening again. Smaller and more focussed is better. I take my MTB to a shop that deals with MTB's almost exclusively in Plumstead. It takes me an hour to get there and an hour to get back to work, but if I am going to spend good money on my bike, I go to the shop that knows me, my bike and my requirements. And it helps that they are a fountain of knowledge and experience. This shop shared with me that their turnover is actually up from last year. They don't make bags of cash from sales, but their workshop is full 24/6 (they dont work on sundays) and the waiting list is about a week for scheduled services etc. (the small things they sort out on request, but I always ask nicely )
  2. yep. We want free toys with our happymeals!
  3. If the mag is willing to sponsor me a Garmin Edge 705, I'll submit 1 mtb race and 1 new trail report every month
  4. I picked up my first copy of Tread at my LBS, and yep! I think its the sh!t. Also featured a pic with 2 of my mates (the Lamont bro's). I guess time will tell if this is going to be another publication with articles copied and pasted from overseas mags. I mean we are all tired of the "How to do a 3 hour argus" or "How to loose weight and gain Power" type of articles. What would be good is a proper race section that includes reviews, profiles and maps of the routes in the various provinces. And not just the National Series events, but some of the smaller races as well.
  5. I don't know if I want to pick up a chick that rides faster than me Not good for the ego!
  6. Do you have problems with your lenses otherwise (at work, or watching TV?) If not, as mentioned above, get a good pair of cycling sunglasses. I also have very bad eyesight (my script is -5.50 on both eyes). I have only picked up problems with my lenses on the longer multi stage enduro events, as they tend to get dry and "scratchy". I always have those small eye drop sachets in my back pocket. One or 2 of these during a ride sorts it out. I also tried to use the Addidas evileye sunglass inserts, but my prescription is so poor that it compromises my eyesight if the lenses are dirty, and I want to take my glasses off.
  7. Yep I guess he makes more in a month on Supersport and with his shops than what he made in a year of cycling, so why would he risk all that. Unless he is as dof as a certain rugby player that have incriminating evidence all over the place and now is no longer on the tellie...
  8. Who needs back brakes on a machine like that!
  9. Don't know what happened there. Sent this post late in March I think?
  10. Take it to the shop and lodge the query. If it deteriorates, you have a history regarding this and that would make it easier to replace if needed.
  11. Actually met CS at Cederberg Escape. What a nice guy. He even let me buy him a beer!
