Yup. Can't say that the format is working for me. ACE must either commit and run a totally separate race for the elite ladies, or like others suggested on here, cut out 2 or 3 days of the event for them to get the TSS balanced (if that is the actual reason for the change... don't know...)

The ACE actually have a very strict anti-littering policy that is being enforced. Other events can take note and do the same. I raise my boys to only take pictures and to only leave tracks when we ride or hike. It's the way I was raised.

I went for the Deore Spec. With bikes in a rental fleet the last thing you need is an App that wants to update all the time. There are 3 power modes. Low Med High. If you want a bit more customisable setup, go for the GX spec. Comes with the fancier controller that links to App and lets you change stuff.

They’ve not skipped a beat. I do chain replacements after around 1000 km, keep the drive train clean and have done suspension service to keep the moving bits in good shape. Electrical components are holding up very well.

Camera footage is commonly used in fleet management and insurance claims, LPR being used with the latter by all the big insurance companies. Near misses are hard to prosecute though and naming & shaming is a futile exercise.

+1 for the Titan Hardtails. I got the Cerberus Dash as part of my bike rental fleet expansion earlier this year. When I feel like having fun I park my Specialized carbon stumpjumper and take the Cerberus for a spin. Love the dropper on it and it handles really well for an "entry level" bike. Bikes -

I have both the Camelbak Mule 5 hip pack and the Leatt 1.5 hydration core. I prefer the Leatt. Ventilation is better and it can store more than the mule. Camelbak bladders are easier with the skrew lid opposed to the slider system to fill your bladder.

I was genuinely surprised at his form. The season started with him absent from the first couple of races after joining the Jayco squad and seemingly shifting focus to the road calendar. When he got to the UCI XC World Cup the season was already well advanced and seemed to struggle. I wondered if the move to Giant was a good one or not, but he has me eating humble pie right now. What a ride he pulled off today!

I have so many fond memories. 24 hrs at Wiesenhof, 24 hrs at Oak Valley, Argus MTB (my last one in 2010 the morning after my Batchelors - morsig gewees… ) Simonsberg Contour, Burger MTB, countless rides at Delvera and more recently Muratie, and then Buchu in Tulbagh which I now ride just about every week. As received from Dirtopia Facebook page It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dirtopia founder, Meurant Botha, this morning. Meurant lost his life in a car accident, alongside his close friend and fellow mountainbiking icon, JP van Zyl of Recycles Bike Shop. Meurant’s vision, energy, and love for the sport shaped trails, events, and communities across South Africa and beyond. Together with JP, he dedicated his life to growing the culture of mountain biking and inspiring countless riders. Our hearts go out to their families, friends, and the entire cycling community as we mourn this immense loss. We will share more information in due course. For now, we pause to honour two great men who gave so much to the sport we love.

Does Sani2C start at the Sani Pass? Is Origin of Trails truly the origin of all trails? PE Plett finishes / starts miles from PE and Plett, Karoo2Coast also finishes on a lagoon and Sasol fuel didn’t turn my Volksie into a Porsche like in the Sasol add.

I'm not convinced that we need this. The pro's will ride square wheels and make them look good if you pay them enough, so that for me is hardly an indicator. Remember how long Shurter stayed on his 650b's when everyone else jumped to 29ers? I also recall a very "scientific" test Sauser did in Jonkershoek illustrating the speed difference between a 650b and 29er, basically riding both bikes up on the same trail and illustrating the supposed gains. Dead 26 and 650b stock nearly killed some bike manufacturers and dead 29 stock will certainly take a few scalps. The UCI sandbagged on disk brakes for the roadies to protect the industry and I am very certain that they will do the same with another wheel size. On the udder hand we probably need a new fuel to substitute the plateauing gravel bike industry.

Its a hard no then for me. I quite like the Winelands model. Combining that with STF gives a day permit rider so much to ride from both Somerset West and Banhoek sides.

-Hi-Jack On- Are the corridors between the trails still for annual (the u is silent btw.) members only? I recall having a debate with a committee member a few years ago about this. My view was that a day member is also a member and subject to the same t's and c's as annual members, but their view as that land owners did not want day members on the corridors. I'd actually make the trip if the corridors are open to day members as well. -Hi-Jack Off-

I'm looking for a value for money fork for a 130mm trail hardtail build. Any views on the Rockshox 35 silver?

I did the Piket-Bo-Berg event a few years ago (2021 IIRC). It was amazing. Retreat looks like a nice getaway as well. I might take the family for a weekend when things warm up and dry out a bit in the Western Cape.
