  1. Hopefully the truth will out regarding: - if the prize money was in fact guaranteed and if there were suspensive clauses (such as procurement of x hours of TV coverage, minimum entries etc.) - if the quoted number of entries (100 plus by some accounts) were in fact confirmed. The reputational damage to SA event orginisers will make it even more difficult to launch new events and grow the sport. The question is how do the industry go about interrogating the event orginiser to ensure that his public statements were accurate?
  2. It would be interesting to see if the event can recover from this one. My guess is that it is going to die a slow death.
  3. At the time I thought that this would come back to bite him in the balls. If he wasn't so arrogant at the time he may have found himself a decent contract at a local franchise for a year or 2 after parting ways with England and who knows, maybe even a coaching position later on. Now no-one will touch him in SA or England.
  4. Now for the interesting aftermath of the RC... Lets see how many Boks get clearance to play the last 2 or 3 Currie Cup games. I must say that I would prefer it if the Bok group (or at least those who got more than 300 minutes of game time in the 6 games) are excluded from the CC. Somewhere there will be a laaitie who played his heart out for his province the whole season only to be told that he'll be watching from home or the local pub if the Boks are allowed to simply come in on the 11th hour.
  5. On some level I wanted the Cheetahs to beat WP today... just to knock the Bulls out of 4th spot. Good game though!
  6. 2 de van bo[emoji6]
  7. It is not that simple. You have the role model factor. Sports stars more than most professionals have the ability to influence youngsters and can either encourage or discourage doping by their own actions (words these days mean very little). We took a very harsh stance on Hansie Cronje when he tried to cheat. That is probably why we have not seen a re-occurance of the offense, even with many of our cricketers over in India regularly playing IPL. I for one encourage the Epic's stance on doping and think that this should be extended to teams and support teams as well (another debate, but having a support team on dope influence the race by giving the A-team an advantage is also possible). I think it is regrettable that Vermaak decided not to bring the ban in from inception of the event, but I am sure that he got some extensive legal and PR advise on the matter. Fortunately 5 years down the line the policy that was grand-fathered in will be more effective.
  8. if only they criminalised drug use in sport... imagine getting 2 years jail time for doping. I think you'll solve the problem in no-time.
  9. My thoughts exactly. I wonder if Pioneer can turn around and say to him "thanks, but no thanks, you're not welcome here".
  10. I agree. Lets see whether SAIDS reduces his ban or not. If they do, then Brandon Steward should apply for a 12 month reduction in his ban.
  11. what tough times? Cycling is seeing a boom like never before.
  12. ... and ensure that no-one on here is going to take you seriously in the near future, Peanutbutter An3
  13. and miss an opportunity to be a total a$$hole? Not likely!
  14. It is a good thing that I am not in retail. If someone has nothing better to do than to engage with a bike shop employee on what was clearly an error on the website or try to use this error to blatantly exploit the situation, my response would have been much more colorful.
  15. I am more shocked that a shop would take back a pair of bibs. Stay clear guys! Someone elses used bibs is worse than double dipping after stage 5 at the Epic...
  16. I leave them in until I prepare my bike for a stage race. Then new rubber goes on. Its rather crp to have a DNF on a stage race you paid good money for because a plug decided to go AWOL.
  17. Google is your friend. If you are not seeing any bad reviews when you enter Fulcrum in the search box above, there probably are no bad reviews.
  18. Thanks for the quick reply. Can I then assume that the dealers currently listed on Trek's website is current?
  19. Save the search results Even better, get the name copyrighted asap.
  20. Now that we have you on the line: The article say very little. What are the areas that you will be focusing on in the next few months? Where do Trek owners go with warrantee claims etc? Any pro athletes that you are looking at sponsoring for 2015 for us to look out for?
  21. are you still boycotting woolworths "because they dont employ white people?" http://www.fin24.com...-fires-20120904 I must say that if I walk pass the shop I would be inclined to pop in as well. There is probably some "freakshow" value.
  22. no website for dark horse brands? Hopefully not someone working from the basement.
  23. Thanks for the update Andrew I guess it is the standard response from any defense to counter sue. They still are not covering themselves in glory here. One would think that they would by now have come to their senses. I guess you can wait for your money (i.e. that it is not going to sink you financially if you do not get it), making things difficult for them as you can now drag this thing out if you wish to do so. I am sure you know this, but advise them that this should this not be settled out of court within a set time frame you will claim for your legal fees too. That may end up the equivalent of 2 x proper Pinarellos.
  24. Good show by the Pumas. Sharks looked very "pap" tonight.
  25. Travis? You there? Any more questions?
