  1. And she's a runner! 👏 Went for a test ride and even though I find the seating position and handlebars moer uncomfortable in comparison to my GS it is still a blast to swing a leg over this machine.
  2. Hallo Bennie! Gaan dit goed? Daai yster lyk mooi.🤙
  3. Got stuck into it last night and as usual I get carried away and "there's no tomorrow, we finish now!" So here we arenow. Starts and idles, need a few more fairing bolts and a new battery and to clean and lube the chain then I can take her for a test ride. (And hopefully she's sold by the end of the month)
  4. So on account of some upcoming family commitments and needing funding for said commitments I have to thin the heard so to speak. This girl was really moody towards the end of our last fling, and I just can't deal with moody. I gave her some attention and she gave me lots of attitude and that was the straw that broke the camels back. So I benched her for a little over two years now. Put the battery on charge earlier this week, only to find it's it's shot, but just enough power to illuminate everything to test where power does reach throughout. Struggled get power to the starter and decided not to waste time searching for bad wires. Took out the entire wiring loom and put in my second loom with better success. There was now power to everywhere that needed it and the starter could turn, albeit it very slow on account of the battery. Connected some jumper leads from my bakkie and motors turning over. Unfortunately the petrol in the tank has gone bad (smells like paintstripper) so there was no fire. With the right tools (a new battery, some fresh feul and a can of quickstart) I should be able to get her running over the weekend.
  5. My advice would be not to go full blast rally just yet, rather have a look at the smaller Day Jolls held every other Saturday. They are like mini rallies and should give you a taste of what the real deal looks like. There's nothing worse than getting fed up of an event or the vibe of, and having to pack up and ride 100km home at 9pm on a Saturday evening.
  6. I wouldn't do the Swallows again, that is one of the Rallies that made me loose interest. Every Tom, Dick and Harry who's uncle's cousin has a bike pitches up there, they use to have around 13000 attendees but probably only 4000 motorcycles.
  7. Yeah going to see if I can twist the wifes arm. My favorite Rally use to be the Buffalo in Mosselbay. You didn't have to stick to the campsite, you had basically the whole garden route to explore. I use to frequent the CMA tents in the morning's for coffee, usually received some shaming looks for the state that I'd be in.😆
  8. There are a bunch, I'm not familiar with all of them, but one of my favorite places I've ridden is Jonkershoek. An absolute must. I'm sure someone will be around shortly to inform you of the others.
  9. Awesome, I don't know if this is at the same spot, or if it might interest you, but someone shared this with me today. Haven't been to a motorcycle rally in over 10 years as I've outgrown that lifestyle somewhat, but was actually considering this as it's a CMA event, so should be a lekker kuier without the usual rowdiness of a typical rally. And I saw its under 12 free so would make great moto camping weekend trip with my boy. Just a thought, use it don't use it.
  10. Quick ride on my local trails this afternoon. If you have the time and the weather is this good you run out of excuses.
  11. That's exactly how I got started again. Had a small little Chinese 2stroke that I fixed up for my boy, got jittery watching him ride in the veld and pretty soon acquired a cheap little 150cc Gomoto to join him. And it just snowballed from there.
  12. Thats flippen great! 🙌 It's super cool if your kid digs bikes like you do and you get to ride with them like this.🤙
  13. Went out for a quick ride this afternoon. Sometimes it hits me out of nowhere how lucky I am to have a 15min (at max) commute (by car) home from work and then a less than 5km pedal to get into these views.
  14. That said, ☝, here's to moto families.🤙
  15. This is something we as moto parents/families will always have to live with. My boy almost always rides with me, from the Tankwa Karoo to Swartberg Pass and it's always in the back of my head how something can go wrong at any moment. If you have a passion for motorcycling and it's shared with your children you can't get away from the risk factor and it's best to prepare them properly for what might happen. Propper ATGATT and skills training aswell as thinking ahead, always being aware of your surroundings and making safe informed decisions accordingly. Only way to keep us/them safe if this dangerous bug bites.🤙
  16. That's a good looking jacket. I had two leather jackets when I still rode street bikes, sold them and bought Textile when I got the ADV bike. Really regret it as the one was a perfect fit custom Leatherbacks jacket. Now I look like a "Frikkie" when I occasionally get on the sports bike with the ADV textile jacket on.
  17. Eish, these fkn phone pics going which ever way they want. 🤦‍♂️
  18. Today was extremely hot, but I decided this year I should take every chance I can get to ride as I had so little opportunity last year. Was a short ride but a good one nonetheless.
  19. Went for a ride with a mate this morning. Weather conditions were perfect for cycling. First pics on our town dam wall, right outside my back door. Then on to the old disused Villiersdorp road that goes past Brandvlei dam.
  20. But where will you park your bikes and bicycles?
  21. Quick spin after work to try and shake off the stress of the day.
  22. I saw today that Easy Rider Motorcycle up north have a Harly trike for sale. Maybe you can twist the wifes arm a little?😁 https://eazy-rider.com/bikes-for-sale/streetglide-trike-2006/
