  1. Yesterday was MTB day. A mate of mine showed me a newly built trail I hadn't ridden yet. Unfortunately we had to cut our ride short as he got a flat and had to push further. I'm really fortunate with where I live and how much of our local trail network falls into my 5km radius.
  2. My wife use to go everywhere with me on the bike aswell, until we had our boy. About a year after his birth we decided to take a break from motorcycling. But only for about six years and I couldn't anymore. Started riding again and even got my boy on his own bike. My wife kinda lost interest though, she's only been on the bike with me twice in the past two years. My son is my "riding buddy now.
  3. We took the road bikes out this morning, it was pretty tough, but still fun with all the usual awesome views.
  4. I was speaking to one of my riding buddies a few day's ago and told him that "we need to get out more", by this I meant getting out of our local trail network and start visiting the many great trails on the other side of Du Toitskloof. Paarl berg is on my list, have ridden at Rheebokskloof and definitely going back sometime, but would love exploring the mountain itself a bit aswell.
  5. Another awesome morning out on the trails, I suffered but I loved it!
  6. If I'm not mistaken the 848 was preduced alongside the 1098 as the smaller brother. The 748 ran with the 916/996/998 range.
  7. They are very pretty. For me with the 999 I don't know how to explain other than the afrikaans saying "hy is mooi van lelikgeid". I think the 999 made an impression as it came out in 2003 when I was in matric and it was the hot new **** in an very impressionable time of my life.....or something like that.
  8. The 916/996 range are undeniably the most sought after models. For me it's the 999 though.
  9. It was absolutely freaking great to ride outside again and I'm very fortunate that our local trail network falls within my 5km radius.[emoji1690]
  10. Jis ou maat, het vir jou anderkant ook inligting gelos. Regarding you're questions around the chainrings. Mtb cranks generally have 4 bolt holes chainrings and in some brands they are direct mount, whereas road cranks have 5 bolt holes for the chainrings. As mentioned above the Bcd is the diameter of the holes, you can determine youre bcd by measuring the distance between two oposing holes. I'm attached a few images of the different types of chainrings for reference.
  11. Did a "coffee ride" on monday aswell, 1hour spin, took a break for coffee and cookies and then another hour spin "back". Not on Zwift though, hoping to get a bluetooth sensor soon to join the virtual world on my dumb trainer.
  12. Did a 2 hour session on the IDT this morning broken up into 2 × 1 hour rides. Basically just riding on heart rate averaging at 107 bpm for the first hour and 119 bpm for the second hour.
  13. Net soos enige ander wetgewing steur die diewe hul ook nie aan lockdown nie.
  14. Errrr sorry about that, misunderstood the thread title. [emoji2357]
  15. If you're running 9spd then Sunrace will be pretty much on par with Sora. Sunrace use to be a slightly cheaper alternative to the bigger names in the entry level range. So in theory is exactly meant for what you are looking for.
  17. Had to go out for some essentials again today. Took the long way.[emoji16]
  18. My DR and SRAD will probably not be receiving any attention during this period. The GS is still up for a deep clean(how deep is still unknown though) and I want to remove the exhaust to clean it up, there's service rust all over.
  19. That's a lot to do, are you sure you're going to have enough time for everything? [emoji6]
  20. Riding into the sunrise this morning......kind of.....[emoji6] If I look at the silver lining at least I can can get some time in the saddle, something I didn't get much of when I was "free".
  21. Did a quick shop run again this afternoon with the GS, was absolutely great getting out on two wheels. [emoji1690] Even picked up a dice at a robot with a laaitie in a Ford Fiesta ST, the F800GS surprised me and the laaitie....[emoji16]
  22. Started a similar process with my GS last week, it's a freaking mess once you start unwrapping. Didn't have the propper size hex key's to go all the way though. I've got to admit I was relieved by this at the time. Now I hear I've been granted another two weeks to get the right tool and finish the job.
  23. Someone has to make a shop run tomorrow, I'm first in line with the Beemer.[emoji106]Just hoping the list stays short enough. If to much is needed then I'm out and the wife will have to go with the car.
