Where did I say he shouldn’t be named? Edit: (in hindsight I realise this may have been misconstrued, my apologies. While I may have used the word naming it should be read in conjunction with naming him as a groomer. ) I have not once said that. Not.even.once. seems a lot of folks don’t read too good. what I did say was that CSA are skating on potentially thin ice by labelling someone a groomer. By all means sanction him for life , work with SAPS to get this guy in gaol. By labelling him a groomer you also potentially affect those that were in his care. Those that have been affected by him can now be identified. This is serious in my books. you see, nothing happens in a vacuum, and the press release is all we really have to go on. Did the CSA suspend him when these allegations surfaced? I don’t think so as it appears one of his accreditations were achieved AFTEr the allegations. The CSA by knowing the situation allowed him to carry on until Monday morning the 3rd of June 2024. Sorry to say, but I suspect there is lot more to this story and in time it might come out. The CSA should have suspended him back in early 2023 under violation of code and sanctioned him while concurrently working with SAPS. this is a CRIMINAL matter, get it? is this clear? according to a missive previously posted the matter is sub judice, now whether this is true or not we do not know. If it in fact is, then the CSA have potentially affected the outcome with this press release.

I reckon you have misread the vast majority of comments. I don’t think anyone commented on a softer outcome.

There are many possible scenarios. Of course he must be sanctioned and discredited. No arguments. Of course it must be reported to the authorities and they must investigate ( which seeing as the matter is sub judice appears to be happening.) I have no qualms with the process followed by CSA , it all appears above board. I have no complaints with the process and the sanction. sexual grooming is a crime, and justifiably so. I trust CSA took it up with the relevant authorities when this was initially reported back in early 2023. Right now , let’s face it, apart from the press release we actually know very little but this forum has already found him guilty of statutory rape amongst others. It has also exposed all the children to possibly unwanted attention. by labelling mr bester they may have done everyone a disservice. ( my opinion) These allegations surfaced in early 2023, presumably mr bester was permitted to continue plying his trade for an additional year and a few months. He should have been immediately suspended on suspicion of misconduct. His eventual expulsion should have been on this basis. ( again my opinion) in the event this goes to court and he is found to be not guilty I believe CSA may be exposed. let’s follow this story and keep track of it.

You ever attend the high court, or any court? Or even watch an episode of LA law? Did you notice the opposing counsels? Both sides well qualified and both sides believe themselves to be right? Yet….only one side wins, does this mean the other side is less qualified? do you have knowledge of who has and who does not have law degrees? edit: just to be crystal clear as some may have missed this not so subtle point: don’t think anyone is saying mr bester is innocent, just that it could have been dealt with better.

Yes. The term misconduct could be used or contravened their code. Just to be clear he probably could still coach but not under the organisational banners. He is still free to do as he pleases. CSA do not have the authority to ban him carte Blanche from coaching.

You are absolutely correct. I get it. The other aspect not discussed here is that the lasses have the right to anonymity. Now, I am willing to wager that mr bester probably does not have many many clients and certainly less so for girls of this age. It’s quite possible that they are identified by their peers and others. There is a certain victim blaming element in society and these girls could be subjected to abuse, they probably already feel guilt to a certain extent. They deserve better.

Absolutely no vested interest in this gents innocence, or guilt for that matter. I just don’t like the lynch mob mentality that pervades in society, both online and in real life. I believe CSA should have kept the charges discreet and allowed the law to take its course. That’s my only interest if this does go further then his *** is booked as they say, assuming a guilty verdict is reached. By some quirk he is friends of friends on vleisboek and he has a good looking family, connected to a number of brands etc. According to the missive previously posted , the matter is being taken further. Let’s keep tabs on it if possible to see where it goes.

That is quite cynical and you have found him guilty already by all accounts. the exact reason why CSA should perhaps not have mentioned the charges themselves. And I get it, I have grand daughters and they must be protected from predators, they must be cherished and kept innocent as long as possible, as should all kids. But at the same time we need to be careful of tarring and feathering potentially innocent people. hey, to make it quite clear , again. Child molesters have a special hell reserved.

Not condescending at all, and no, it’s not 2 vastly different scenarios. They are more alike than different. one elicited a nudge nudge wink wink, the other a lynch mob. however, it could be construed as disingenuous. But, precedent is quite an important aspect of law. The post you refer to has a fairly condescending sentence in it. But alas, it matters not much really. as the matter is sub-judicial it will be interesting to see the outcome. If mr Bester is found to be innocent, CSA may have some egg on face. Won’t be the first time.
