  1. Was also interested in this, especially longest distant ridden in 12 and 24 hours. Googled it extensively, but couldn't find the records if they exist. There are records kept for all Audax rides, for 200, 300, 400 and 600km rides. Will check on these and report back.
  2. Awesome. What time you looking at? Eddie is currently riding from John O' Groats to Land's End, with Denis. He'll be back by month end. Will check on the date of the 1000. You joining us for the 600 in November?

  4. Well done! A stunning achievement.
  5. From www.racetovictory.co.za: Sand road encountered after 3.6 km for 900m duration and then note again on the return route at the 106 km mark with 4 km remaining. No need to dismount at all – easily rideable at high speed but follow your own line – some Paris Roubaix experience.
  6. Found the profile. Less than 550m ascent, makes this my kind of event. The website says the two dirt sections give it a "Paris Roubaix" feel. Let's hope the rain doesn't turn it into "The Hell of the South" :-0
  7. Thanks, ffff. Going to carry gear in Toppeak carrier gear bag, with water proof cover. Heard horror stories about the rain water logging gear and driving up the weight. Sleeping plan sounds spot on. 9 hours of sleeping. 81 hours of riding at 15 km/h. Hoping to average more like 20 km/h. What was your time?
  8. Couldn't find a thread for this. I see the route no longer goes through SBR for the 100km ride. There doesn't appear to be a route sheet on the web. Anyone got the route and/or profile? Any Hubbers doing this one?

Hey Ossie, likewise a pleasure to meet you yesterday. Tough ride for me! Stayed with the bunch until the climb past Toadbury Hall/Valverde. Got debunched in a flash, and couldn't get back on. TTed to the end, but sub 3 was not on the cards. I see my bunch also came up a minute or two short, but put 5 minutes into me in the last 20 clicks! I see you were just a bit behind. How'd your ride go?
  10. Hectic, mate. Glad it wasn't too serious. Also did D2D today. Tough ride!

All good. See you at the line.
  12. Awesome. Looking to do my first PBP in 2015. How did you find it?
  13. Well done! What kit were you wearing? I'm guessing you were in the grupetto that left with us from Pelindaba?

Good one. Also looking for sub three. Black Cannondale with Cresta Wheelers jersey. What kit will you be in?

    Nope.
  17. Thanks. We had a couple of riders in our bunch who also did EPR. Tough ask doing back-to-back rides. Fortunately wind wasn't too much of an issue. Think it was much worse on Saturday :-( Fine tailwind from Pelindaba to Magaliesburg!
  18. Sorry to hear about this. You okay? What happened?
  19. A small field of 12 riders attempted today's Audax. There were a number of riders attempting their first 200km ride. With 2700m of climbing this was the toughest Audax of the year. We were on the road for almost eleven hours riding with the newbies. Well done to all participants. Thanks to Barry and Cresta Wheelers for organizing a great day out.

In. I love that climb at the end :-))
  21. It's HTFU day for me at SBR tomorrow. Any Hubbers heading out?
  22. The event on 25/8 is going ahead, but will start at Randburg Sports Club (Home of Cresta Wheelers) instead of the Lido. Hope you can join is.
  23. After spending most of the year in the East and the South, Audax heads North in August, and is organised by Cresta Wheelers. Details: Date: Sunday 25/8/2013 Start: 0700 Venue: Randburg Sports Centre, Randburg Route: Randburg-Pelindaba-Magaliesburg-Randburg (same route as Ian Kernick 2012) Please use existing entry forms (www.audaxsa.co.za), but send entry forms and proof of payment to barryshaw@icon.co.za.. Details can also be found at www.crestawheelers.co.za. Barry Shaw is the organizer and can be contacted on 0833252051 or barryshaw@icon.co.za. Please note that the Ian Kernick will still happen on 1/12/2013 as advertised.
  24. Yeah, might try that approach myself ;-)
  25. A bunch, but given my physical condition (or lack thereof), might ride down. What sort of time will A,B, and C bunches do?
