  1. Next Sunday, 28th July, is Audax Sunday! This time we leave from Belgravia in town, head off to 3 Rivers, then to Heidelburg, and back. It's flat and fast, Any Hubbers joining us?
  2. +1, see you at the start.
  3. Awesome ride today! Another biggish field. Always forget that getting to Dasville is a lot easier than getting back!
  4. Riding solo will set you back $20000!
  5. Strasser sets two RAAM records with solo win By VeloNews.comPublished 3 days ago Christoph Strasser won the men’s individual category in the Race Across American Wednesday in Annapolis, Maryland. Strasser, now a two-time winner, finished in record time, logging an unofficial result of 7 days, 22 hours, and 11 minutes, with an overall average speed of 15.56 mph. Strasser’s record ride bested the 15.4-mph speed mark set by Pete Penseyes in 1986 and Rob Kish’s record time of 8 days, 3 hours (set on a different course). Dani Wyss was second on the road on Wednesday, trailed closely by Swiss countryman Reto Schoch. The American Allied Forces team was setting a record pace in the eight-person team category on Wednesday, ahead of CEO Challenges and Team O’Side.
  6. The route for next Sunday's 200 is out. We're not heading out towards Cullinan anymore. New route is Benoni-Heidelburg-Dasville, out and back. The stretch from Heidelburg to Dasville is super quiet, from a traffic point of view.

  8. One of our group just dropped out. Cycling tomorrow from Jo'burg to Durban via Bethlehem and Mooi River. 200km per day. R2k all in. Call me 0828041510 if u keen.
  9. Excellent. The more the merrier. Everyone super welcome to join the ride.
  10. Awesome that you're joining us again. Will try and stay with you this time. Got blasted off between Devon and Balfour last time :-( Regarding safety, it is so important that we ride in single file. This is tough in cross winds, where you want to maximize draft. You get lulled into a false sense of security in a bunch. Those roads are live all the time, and need to be treated with respect.
  11. Awright jcza!
  12. Yes :-)
  13. Thanks to all the Hubbers who joined us in May, making it one of the best attended Audax rides in some time. This month's event is a 200km ride starting from Pro Cycles in Benoni on Sunday 30/6 at 7am. The route will take us through Bapsfontein and Delmas, to Bronkhorstspruit, before retracing our steps back to Benoni. These events are ideal winter training for riders of all abilities. The May event saw bunches finishing in times ranging from 7h30 to 9h30. For more details: www.audaxsa.co.za. Whose up for this one?
  14. Dear Cyclist, IT’S TIME TO RIDE FOR A PURPOSE! TEDDY BEAR CLINIC FOR ABUSED CHILDREN, is a registered NPO (Reg Nr 023-286) and PBO (930001291). We are joining the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge as a novice charity organisation in the Ride for a Purpose Charity Bond. The funds raised are needed and used as they afford us the opportunity to: - Provide services, treatment and support to victims of child abuse and their families - To assist the child protection network including justice, health, social services, education and the SAPS - To prevent further victimisation of children, stop the cycle of abuse, - train and research - To run a diversion programme for young sexual offenders - To successfully implement, monitor and research the aftercare programme for young sex offenders. - WE NEED YOUR HELP TO KEEP THESE INVALUABLE SERVICES GOING! TEDDY BEAR CLINIC has for the first time this year, registered a Charity Bond. This Bond needs to be made up of a minimum of 20 cyclists- there is no maximum limit as to how many cyclists can ride for us. 15. Some last minute places have opened up for LEL 2013. PM if you'd like further info.
  16. 30 riders today. Awesome turnout for the Winter! Thanks to everyone for making the day a great success. See you all at the end of June for the next 200. No word yet on the date of the 400. It will happen though.
  17. Agree. Once a month do a ride that terrifies you ;-))
  18. Thanks. 10/2, save the date :-) Either going to do the big brother of yesterday's route, or three laps at SBR. The advantages of SBR are: more climbing (3400m), much safer than yesterday's route, and escape routes at 57km and 114km.
  19. Yeah, many times. It feels very unsafe. There is no shoulder and you're in the way of traffic coming round the bend. I try and ride it early before the traffic gets too crazy.
  20. The racing calendar is filling up. Might be a bit close to Argus if you're looking for an optimal ride. Will look for a post-Argus date after the ride on 10/2 :-)
  21. I went to school on the East Rand. Trading Places?
  22. Good ride that. Looking at 10/2 for next installment.
