  1. I carry 2 1l bottles, so I carry a fair amount of fluid. There's also a fair amount of garages on the way. That's some serious climbing. You'll sleep tonight!
  2. Thanks, Escapee..Where's East Side?
  3. Thanks, mate. It was pretty hot. My Polar says the average for the ride was 33 deg, with a high of 47 deg. (in direct sun, I'd imagine). Wind not an issue. D'you ride today?
  4. Today's numbers: 130km, 2085m, 7h49, 19.4 km/h ave, 7280 cal. A late start meant I left out K'dorp Hill and Doreen. An earlier start should get the job done. This should take the distance to about 150km, and push the climbing up to around 2500m. All in all, a fun day. Watch this space for details of next Sufferfest :-)
  5. See it now. Was battling to get the map on Strava working on my iPhone. Working on the mapmyride kms, elevation, etc. decided to add Doreen early as that road is crazy when there's traffic. So the climbs in order are now: 1. Golf Club Terrace 2. Doreen 3. Alma Mater 4. Hekpoort 5. Sterkfontein Hill Santa Barbara) 6. .Krugersdorp Hill 7. Northcliff Hill
  6. There's always another Sunday :/)
  7. Mos def. Looking forward to doing "Cape Town 's toughest ride" next time I'm down !
  8. Thanks, Robo. Will add it. Struggling to work out where it is in relstion to K'dorp Hill?
  9. No worries. Catch you next time. Looking like I may be soloing it :-(
  10. With all them hills it won't be fast. I'm keen on slow and steady, maybe 20 km/h?
  11. Apologies meant "Santa Barbara" ;-)
  12. Great effort with all that climbing!
  13. Thanks for the encouragement. Negotiating with the Missus for permission to surf the couch for the rest of the day. The distance will be similar to yours. I haven't worked out the vertical ascent yet, but guessing it will be less than half of yours. How long did your route take you?
  14. Thanks, mate. I have found riding in the heat of the day really helpful for longer events. This one should see us home, and on the couch before the heat gets too bad ;-))
  15. Stranger things have happened. He rode with us last year on the Ian Kernick. I didn't know it was him, turned myself inside out trying to keep up, blew spectacularly, limped home. I tell you what though, a more humble down-to-earth star, you won't find.
  16. After having been inspired by the example of Tubehunter and assorted Cape Town Hubbers, I am of the view that a Jo'burg Sufferfest would make a welcome start to the new year. Date: Sunday 13/1 Start: 5am at garage next to Honda West Rand on HP. Route: HP-Cradle-Maropeng-Hekpoort-Sterkfontein Hill-Doreen-Krugersdorp Hill-Northcliff Hill. About 140km. Any Hubbers to join me?
  17. Awesome day at SBR. Rode a bit with Chris Froome. He is looking lean. Look out Conti!
