  1. Thanks @DieMelkman. I phoned them but they are the one only doing e-bikes. 😟
  2. We are in Mossel Bay area this weekend. (18-22 March) I would dearly like to rent a size small mountain bike for my son to ride on the weekend. (26er/650B/29er) Will be used to explore the streets (non technical riding) with me. Any advice on who to contact that might rent out pedal bikes? Only place I could find only does e-bikes.
  3. Is this event still going ahead following the corona issues? I entered but have not received any cancellation info from the organisers yet.
  4. My physio sent me for a sonar scan and I was diagnosed with paratenonitis on Wednesday. Basically the sheath that is inflamed and not the tendon. The doc suggested the cortisone injection. I now postponed it after reading this as I think I must get another opinion. Has anybody suffered from paratenonitis and how long did it take to heal? I've been going for physio for more than two weeks now. Seems to be getting better and I am dying to get back on the bike! Need to make a call on that injection before Monday...
  5. Why never cortisone injection? I was told today by a doctor and physio to get one. What do I need to know?
  6. Hi KiNgL I was advised today that the particular hub that I have can NOT take different end plugs. The wheelset is Bontrager Race Lite. 28H hub. Damn I had the bearings replaced and the wheels run 100% true so wanted to use them on my build project. Seems like I need a different hub at the back so might just consider selling the wheels and getting something that can swop plugs... Make me an offer if you are keen.
  7. Thanks Naas. Looks like the solution. I just need to be sure that it will work on the hub I have. Damn, too bad you are 1500km away for me to try it before I order it!
  8. Where did you buy these?
  9. Thanks Hairy. It is a 29er. My first choice would have been to keep the Bontrager wheel as it could serve as back wheel for my other bike in case I need to fit it for whatever reason... But that wheel in the add is cheap enough to consider - just wish it was in Gauteng!
  10. Hi I am building up a training bike from some spares that I have. The frame I am going to use has Quick Release at the back. The wheels I intend using are Bontrager with 142x12 through axle hubs. (I think Bontrager use a DT Swiss hub). So what is the best solution to make it work? Do you get an adapter to put in the hub to make it QR? And if so where do I find such a thing?
  11. Hi Tim, any idea of how much climbing to expect on the marathon yet?
  12. I avoid energy sachets with creatine at all cost during a race as I also experienced cramps and was advised it could be the creatine. It certainly went away when I changed. I was using Biogen's product at the time. (not sure if they still use creatine in it now - was about 4-5 years ago)
  13. Nice thread. I don't have the time to browse all 63 pages but from the ones I viewed I could not pick up on Trek Superfly clones being discussed. So, does anyone know of a chinese manufacturer that does a 29er HT frame with similar geometry to the Trek Superfly G2 geometry? Thing is I have a spare SID fork tweaked for G2 and all the spares to build a bike up. I just need a medium frame with the right headset angle. I would prefer a 142x12 back axle frame as that is what my spare wheelset is. Hope someone have some advice on this.
  14. Yip
  15. So is there only a half marathon (40km) and a ultra marathon (103km)?? The entry fees on the website refer to a marathon as well but no info on a marathon...
