  1. I have a large and medium 2010 Trance X2's for sale if you want to go that route-then you can choose whichever one feels best for you.
  2. You can also check out these guys. http://www.newlinesport.co.za/ Very nice stuff from Denmark-they know how to survive the cold!
  3. Here's a link that works...
  4. How about things that aren't bike parts? I need a few car parts-would you be able to help out with those kind of things?
  5. Hi Hubbers iRide Africa has just launched a new product (comprehensive skills clinics over 3 days) and is offering a lucky person a chance to win a Cape Town based MTB skills clinic worth R975! Take a look on our facebook page here to enter. Enjoy the guessing -most accurate one wins
  6. If anyone wants a trail map of Jonkershoek you candownload ours here. It's quite up to date but doesn't show that the neverending story/masons trail/Elliotti is mostly unridable at the moment.
  7. Gongmech, I have added a map of Table mountain trails to our website. Some of the hiking trails are fun and ridable but it is illegal for mtbers to be on them so I can't say which ones
  8. When I was helping at the UCT track we just asked any builders to dump the soil there and they'd happily do it for free (it's cheaper than going all the way to the dump in Muizenburg to dump it!). They best soil is clay, white/red, fine and dusty as hell when dry and sticky as hell when wet. The UCT jumps have stood up to a lot of abuse with minimum rebuilding.
  9. MockTurtle, I think I may have one of Lebanon but it's just soooo boring looking that I don't think I've wanted to upload it! Will make it more interesting at some point and get it up there. Glad to know the maps are being used!
  10. Thanks, and fixed
  11. Hi hubbers, After a tonne of requests for a map of Table Mountain routes, I have compiled one here. It's a bit basic and only v1.0 so please let me know what's missing and anything else you'd like added-I'll get around to it on my quiet days! Oh, and please don't ask me which hiking trails are good to ride-I'm not allowed to put that on a map!
  12. yeah, also thought it's be more like a pump track for kids. Not really the type of place (trails are for beginners, predominantly) that's going to put in huge doubles and hips
  13. Shortboard vs longboard, if I can use a surfing analogy...gives the rider a different ride/feel and allows people that haven't learnt all their skills on a 26er to be 'better'.
  14. Thanks for that! Brilliant that there's another option out there. Well done to all involved!
  15. We were up there 2 weeks ago and I wrote a small blog about the riding there. Check it out and be ready to smile! http://irideafrica.com/blog/2011/03/29/karkloof-mountain-biking/
  16. I echo your thought MockTurtle. More people need to know about these trail days and the majority of riders do not read the hub often so flyers, posters etc would go a long way to getting a trail maintenance community going. I'll follow here and try get to the next one.
  17. Have to agree with leet22. Giant reign is the way forward. Can travel XC distances and could race DH on it no probs-not cheap though!
  18. You can check out our website for some trailmaps of some of the places we ride. www.irideafrica.com
  19. We had a group on Table Mountain yesterday from 10:00am to 13:00. Suffer fest in that heat. The stats read average temp 41 degrees, minimum 31 and max 47 degrees in the sun. Was not so pleasant!
  20. I wish there were more XC races! It is such a good format but sadly people don't seem to like racing in lap races (I think their ego's get a bit bashed). The way to introduce more of them would be to somehow make it less 'elite' and aim it more at the fun riders. Good luck and I hope you come right! HAve you heard of the UK (kona sponsored) Mash ups? Brilliant concept and I reckon you could be more successful doing these-look it up.
  21. Hi Guys, anyone who's looking for a bit of info on the new cycle lanes can read my blog about it here. There are some photos and a google map of where we rode...
  22. Shebeen, I also got my hopes up with that trail rider reports blog! Does look like a good source of info for some epic mtb rides though!
  23. Good point there Starry nights. I was thinking more of Cape Town when I made that comment, but Durban and other small cities would also be OK. The roads aren't as busy (or fast) here and they have a good network of cycle lanes all over the place. A lot of them do need to be redesigned in terms of flow and access though.
  24. Hi Guys Been riding around on E-bikes for the past few weeks (yes, yes I know-it's cheating!) I put our impression down in a quick review here Would love to see more cyclists on our roads-even if it's young pupils and old grandparents using motor assist! Oh, and also, if you read our blog every now and then or appreciate whats on offer there, please vote for us in the SA Blog awards, of which we are finalists!
  25. Hope you come right with this. That area could do with more active trail builders (building decent singletrack)-you have potential to have hundreds of km of singletrack at that way!
