  1. I am not usually one to comment on topics but feel like I have to here. I guess a bike fit, where and by whom you have it done is a personal thing, and it will change from person to person. Now I am sure there are many good bike fitters, ex pros and technology out there but I have to agree for me there is only one go-to person and that is Irma. I have known her for almost 20 years and not only is she an amazingly gifted bike fitter who understands each client, discipline of the sport and bike geometry. She is also a really good, kind and caring human. I do not even get on a bike before Irma’s done a setup. It makes that big a difference. Having a proper fit done makes not only the ride more enjoyable, but keeps the body maintenance cost down. (PS This is not a paid partnership- unless that means I have to pay for every fit and tweak to the bike)
  2. Think I am watching it on YouTube
  3. Absolutely loved the Trilogy. For me personally the Gravel Bike was the perfect weapon of choice and will be back on it again next year. Must agree on the E-Bikes. Was a little annoying having them come past to the front of the race and then placing well overall.
  4. Not sure if you are on a Road, Gravel or MTB? If on the latter two you can go straight up to the end of the M19 (Melkbos Road). From there it becomes gravel until you hit the Kalbaskraal Road. Effectively cutting out the Philadelphia stretch.
  5. Unless one can perhaps argue Dolus Eventualis?
  6. I have not done this kind of race or distance since 2013. Really enjoyed the vibe and the route despite the odd sandy patch. Will definitely be back next year. Luckily I have a beach close by to train on 😂
  7. Was quite nice indeed. Little misty at the start, but cleared up beautifully
  8. What’s the Woodstock situation like currently? Safer yet?
  9. We headed back from Apollo to the main road which is about 11km. From there we turned up towards Tankwa River Logde (direction Ouberg Pass) - Took a left to Ceres - through the Park to Da Doer Padstal, then onto the R355 back to padstal. Total distance = 125km.
  10. We did a 2 day ride this past weekend. started at Bike X-Cape 10km from the Padstal. 90km to Apollo de Karoo. The heat got really bad, but the cool pool and beer made up for it. Day 2 was 125km back. Slashed my tyre in the park, ice cold Cole at da Doer and then slapped the last 50km back with a tail wind. There’s plenty of options if you plan ahead. Be prepared with spares and water and you should be good
  11. I’m sure the impact is not as big as I want to make it, but surely this impacts small businesses as well. All the cyclists visiting coffee shops and restaurants in Town should in principle be less which inadvertently impacts business.
  12. This is so frustrating. Got my wife into cycling this year and our early morning trips to Ciovita and Camps Bay for a coffee is a favourite. Just not worth putting her in danger so hope they take action soon. I can see myself watching a story about this on Carte Blanche.
  13. Speak slowly so I can understand please. If I fly to the UK, buy a bike and bring it back with me - will I still have to pay the taxes and duties?
  14. Missed this. See it is close to me, so might just go check it out
