  1. I was driving back from Stegmann Hospital near Sun City after an all-night shift at around 9 this morning. There certainly were cyclists crossing the white line regularly and I was forced onto the gravel by oncoming cyclists in my lane on two occasions. Not cool and it could have been ugly. But hey, I'm a montain-biker, what the hell do I know about white lines?
  2. How about forget all of this and lose 5kg yourself? That would feel like riding a 6kg bike at your current weight.
  3. I did the 3-day version. I think you guys did pretty much the same route as us today. It's hard to believe that Eric has cut most of those trails by hand. Really enjoyed today's stage.
  4. Asks you to register with an e-mail address and stuff before accessing this new revolutionary thingy. Umm... How bout NO?
  5. What single-track? The only part I can remember is before and after the river crossing and then near the "natural rock cave". Both of these were log-jammed because the field had not spread out enough yet. I agree that it was well organised though. Last 10km was hell.
  6. Let's just all stop riding on the road. It's crap anyway.
  7. That's not gonna work! Most cycling accidents are not rear-end collisions but rather side-on or head-on at intersections. How is a lane trailing behind you going to stop the retard truck-driver from caning you at an intersection he ignores?
  8. Let me end this silly argument: MTU is the toughest (mountain unicycling).
  9. From the Merida website: THE BIKE MAGAZINES ARE DELIGHTED: ?bike? 05/08: ?Better isn?t possible. MERIDA?s ?Ninety- Six? possesses extraordinary lab-results, rides sensationally and raises a legitimate claim for the title: best (and most expensive) race full-suspension bike in the world.? ?Mountain Bike? 06/08: ?The Merida Ninety-Six came, saw and drove the elite of race-fullys into the ground. Versatile, strong in sprints, super light. Test winner!? ?Bike Sport News? 05/08: ?I think I?m in love!? The reviews were on the range topping carbon bike though. I would still go Merida.
  10. Currently residing a few Km from the gates of Sun City. Ride mostly on my own. Anyone keen to join?
  11. Silly to cycle that kind of distance with a current DVT. If a thrombus dislodges and heads to the lungs (pulmonary embolus) you'll end up in ICU or the morgue. Are you on Warfarin? Would definitely wait until off Warfarin (probably around 6 months) before tackling anything like this.TimHenman2009-06-01 06:07:23
  12. Yeah, was never much good at tennis anyway.
  13. My 1st cycle race ever, did the 45. When they said it would be tough I still didn't picture the endless kilometres of jagged rocks on ridiculous gradients that we encountered. Made it home in a decent time though and really enjoyed it except for the problems that have already been mentioned above. Best part was the announcer reminding us not to take the left fork to the 75 because "we would die". He may have been right.
