  1. http://results.racetec.co.za/calendar.aspx?R=1&CFE=1&DSP=7 Your event is not listed on here yet, but nor is Amashova and a host of others. I have spoken to Irvin from CTCT office and he says that the complete list of seeded events will be published shortly. If you have received confirmation of your event being a seeded event, it will show on the list.
  2. Firstly.......Congrats. You and your team must be absolutely stoked with amount of effort you put into this and finally be rewarded. Secondly..... Do I understand this correctly.... You are a seeded event for 2018... only it does not show on the list as it has already been published? If that is the case then it sounds like you will have to engage all means possible to get the word out. Seeded events attract well and not everyone is on the HUB. Still... a Magnum bottle of Champers is in order..well done.
  3. Listening to the news every day and by the sounds of it there won't be much left to burn comes the 12th of March. Normal route as per last year, I would think. Strongs to those affected. Too many fires, too far apart and that leaves a strong suspicion of malicious intent, methinks.
  4. Quite so. The Chinese associate the number 8 with good luck. Back to the F10, me no like it at all. Best thing I can see is that there are no disc brakes on it. Maybe they know something and that something tells them discs won't be on the menu anytime soon. As for the rest of it. "Los hom in die son laat hy revs optel".
  5. I bought mine around a year ago. Frame colours are inversed on mine. Very happy with the bike. Best thing about it, must be the value for money. For me it ticks all the boxes. And yes, it does turn heads. Downside though....some chick wanted to take a photo of the bike at Suncoast Casino one weekend...she did the unthinkable....she asked me to move out the frame as she only wanted a picture of the bike. I am psychologically scarred for life.
  6. "and is the first seeding event of 2017". Nope. Value Logistics Fast One in Vereeniging is - being the 29th of Jan.
  7. Reminds me of my very first girlfriend. Always wanted to be in the FRONT of the queue. Sit in the BACK of the bus and just to confuse the hell out me, always wanted to be the CENTRE of attention. Could never understand her.
  8. I speak for myself. No. I did the Value Logistics Fast One in January this year. The time was decent by my standards and my index got bumped up nicely, yet my 94.7 event was utilised for purposes of CTCT seeding. In short, get going. 94.7 is not that far away.
  9. On Dad. Got the nod. Expect a full on, country-wide, assault on the roads starting this weekend.
  10. Congrats. Hopefully soon for me then.
  11. Thanks Karman. Glad you also see it as a tongue in cheek chirp. Just amped to get the green light. Brilliant effort from CTCT every year, considering the vast numbers.
  12. Today is the 29th. It is almost 9 am and I have been awake since very early. No confirmation yet. What time does Cape Town start work? Or do Capetonians only arise from their slumber by Thursday? Just asking. Anyone got their good news yet?
  13. Taken from the Ring of Kerry race. “This year two entries are permitted per person to allow training buddies and friends register together. There will be a fee of €10 per person to register for the lottery, this fee is non-refundable and all proceeds will go to the cycle’s charities. If you are successful this fee will be deducted from your minimum charitable donation, which is the same as last year at €85.” Methinks that our future looks bleak when parting with cash. Not that I want to call it, but very often we find whatever happens across the Atlantic somehow blows over here.
  14. Sick to the Stomach. Not sure if I ever want to watch another Supercycling episode. Hopefully Multichoice make some educated decisions.
  15. Agreed. Myself, I've been liberated for the past 4 years after chainsmoking for the best part of 26 years. Must say, if it wasn't for Champix tablets back then, I would never have done it. Never felt better. The craving is long gone. Mind over matter really. Never will a cigarette be my boss again. Like my dad used to say. "It is the cigarette that smokes. You are only the Sucker at the other end". Best of luck to those trying to kick the habit into touch. It is worth it.
  16. Went Charter Fishing off Shelly beach the other day. A bloke from Klerksdorp was on the boat and offered Camels to everyone, saying he had to get it finished before the end of the day's fishing cause his missus will be mad if she finds he smokes again. I asked him how long he stopped for before he started smoking again. Very casually he said "33 years".
  17. Good on you for living your passion. Nice to have time on your hands to envisage your dream. My only concern is how will Insurance view the claim in the event of a loss. Don't think " My Panda ate my bike" will go down very well on a claim form? Good luck with your build.
  18. Maybe it is because mostly local cyclists took part in this one that there is no post race bitching and moaning and accusing and slanting and bad-mouthing the race organisers. Seems everyone had a blast with that tailwind home.I went out to enjoy it. No PB's were on my agenda. 3:08 is good enough for a Sunday outing. Thanks to the organisers. The usual blissful ride in the knowledge that our entry fee is for full road closure. What a pleasure. To that bloke from ECCC on the white Merida who had nice things to say about my Reacto, (pre-race). Thanks, hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
  19. Sounds like an encyclopedia of Flyers again? Can't remember ever reading any of them. Going there at 3pm. Another thing out of towners should remember. Parking is FREE at Suncoast if you arrive before 8 am with a bicycle hitched on the back of the car or if you can show you have one inside your vehicle. Don't fall the R40 fee at the swimming pool or that area next to it.
  20. Same here. We get older, technology gets better. The nett result is we have to perform so much better just to stay in the same place despite much better indexes??? Wicked sport we are involved in. I won't even bother contesting the seeding.... nnarrrgh. This is an end of season race and my K2C seeding in Sept will come from this years Argus. Just go have fun in this one. Nothing to lose.
  21. Around 8 km after the start we make that hairpin bend onto Edwin Swales (M7), and like a few people already mentioned, stick to the very right hand lane until you get to the climb at least. It is a concrete section that is in very bad shape due to trucks carting loaded containers inland. The resurfaced downhill section down the M19 after Pinetown looks very good, but be careful as there are cat-eyes all the way down to Springfield park along this 10km highspeed adrenalin rush. The rest of the route is the usual most spectacular surface to be found in any roadrace in SA. (IMHO). Remember, it is the last road race for us mere mortals for a while, and the aim of the exercise is to enjoy yourself and be very safe. One last piece of inside info, don't burn too many matches up the M7, and you will have plenty in the tank for a memorable ride the rest of the way. Enjoy. I do not think the lower number of riders it is a case of people voting with their wallets, rather a case of much "thinner" wallets these days. It is not the first race to extend deadlines this year.
  22. The top is actually OTTO VOLEK RD. From there onwards you stay faithful to your abilities and fellow cyclist, cause the descend down the M19 is around 10 km of hair raising speed followed by a short section of boring maneuvering through the back of Springfield Park to catch your breath. From Umgeni Bird park onwards, the best Tar section anywhere in this country, will help you to remember this race. The coastal section to La Mercy and back to Sucoast is a blessing to cherish. Enjoy.
  23. Awkward date, says a mate from up North. 24th is just before payday. Had it been the 1st of May a long weekend could have been organized to bring the family down. Instead he is arranging leave from the 27th of April to the 2nd of May for a getaway elsewhere with the family and a trip to Durban the weekend before will break the bank. (Just a view to share since you are asking).
  24. Careful with the Bob Martins. I once used it as a desperate cure for a babelaas. I only ended up chasing buses and licking my own balls.
  25. Emotional Blackmailing only gets you a DQ. I will post pictures once they are fitted.
