The reason for SLX over XTR is if the part gets damaged it far less costly to replace. That 6 hour Heidelberg race last year i damaged my rear shifter, to replace the XT would be almost double the SLX and XTR double the XT. Unfortunately you cant buy rear or front separate so you need to buy both CWC 10spd Shifter SLX = R570 XT = R999 XTR = R1830.

Lets hope that the evidence that USADA maintain they have got be made available to LA's and other accused to refute or concede. Charges have been made, they need to be tested.
