  1. I've ridden it a few times, should be no problem for newbies.
  2. If anyone has experienced it from a motorists, cyclists and motorized marshals point of view its you.
  3. This is a strong perception. I recall when the D2D and the Monte Casino were were run through Sandton/Randburg the drivers were extremely aggressive. The Monte is no longer held and the D2D has moved to the outskirts. In contrast the Emperors held on the East rand crosses over North rand rd which is the busiest road in the east rand, this road was impacted for about 6 hours yet we did not have incidents such as was seen yesterday.
  4. Just a thought on Soweto, perhaps the reason for including Soweto was that CSA need to report to the parliamentary portfolio sports committee about what action and plans they have to bring the sport to the people.
  5. Popcorn, beer and remote 7pm Tues night.
  6. An ad in the Star 2 days before the actual event is not exactly whats needed , what about using the local community newspapers, Randburg Sun for instance. On the East Rand which hosts 3 races within a space of a month we have notices in the paper. I agree that Gauteng motorists and in particular Jhb motorists are intolerant and selfish, the race was held on a Sunday for crying out loud, what urgency and impact was there if you are delayed.
  7. Mix of both but mostly orgs. If the orgs of the tour had done a better job from advertising, earlier request for volunteers assistance and having a plan B other than cancelling a stage i would have a lot more sympathy.
  8. The irony is that CSA are non compromising when it comes to local org races, even local school and church races come under scrutiny. Fine example they set.
  9. In summary it was mentioned on SC show, a link on CL entry site and Friday prior to the race a notice in the Star. Now why did the all the people of greater Jhb not know there was a race on.
  10. Taking it anywhere near Soweto and having it displayed in other languages might have helped.
  11. That does look smart. How was it advertised, newspaper (Star Citizen, Beeld and and local Caxton newspapers such as Randburg Sun), radio (5FM, Highveld, 702, Jacaranda), light poles along the route, flyers handed out to businesses and private homes, mainstream news (SABC, ETv)
  12. Was the public aware of the race and the route it would take (CSA) Were the marshals and metro police aware and posted on the correct intersection on route. (CSA)
  13. No option for selecting all.
  14. Got an sms earlier from Joe Low, he had been following the riders around. Appears the cops/marshals were also posted on the wrong streets.
  15. Any know if the PE residents know they are on there way there and if the officials will be able to control the roads
  16. Bad planning
  17. Over.... stage has been cancelled.
  18. If ordinary road users who were also not aware could obey the orgs, why should the taxi drivers be different. Its rolling road closure so they should be delayed by less than a robot not working.
  19. Unmanned intersection
  20. Stopped again
  21. Very poor
  22. He works from his house, his garage is kitted out as a workshop. http://www.yellowsaddle.co.za/about.html
  23. Well at least Wikepedia is updated with this little saga as a reminder, leaving people to make up their own minds as to his guilt or not.
  24. Thanks, did not know it was being televised.
