  1. I've been following his blog for sometime http://iamspecialized.com/triathlon/rider/conrad-stoltz#/blog
  2. Ditto for the Silverback, i'm a fan of Merida having owned one, but i prefer Silverback. I found the handlebars that came fitted standard on the Merida is too long where as the Silverback has a shorter one. For a bit more you could get the Spectra which comes with 10spd SLX shifters,XT derailer and a Rockshox recon gold suspension fork.
  3. Squier answered that already, it was someone called Hans or Maans.
  4. Sounds about right, you may not sell your entry for more than you paid I would not be in that situation as i would enter when entry's open.
  5. No bottle store beats the Masonic for price and service
  6. Local bottle store

    FAST ONE

Although not by much it still makes it more than Carnival, maybe even R4S.

I heard the ascent was around 700m which makes it higher than Carnival.
  9. I recall another incident around Hartebesport Dam. An elderly guy and his wife were nearly taken out by a group of motorcyclist, when he confronted them they proceeded to beat him up. Some hub comments...he deserved it as it was not his place to tell them how to ride
  10. You are in the same boat as another lady from CT a while back who came on the Hub and mentioned she was verablly abused by some cyclists when she pointed out that they should ride with lights to make them more visable. From what i recall a lot of comments also mentioned she deserved it as it was not her place to point this out.
  11. A few years back Cyclelab used to include lifetime service on any Trek bike bought from them.

I hope they fix the potholes, the section on the R550 past the informal setllement is very bad.

    Mmm quite mixed reviews.
  15. Name escapes me, but i think someone wrote a book along that line
  16. Think how much further he could have won on a 29'er Kidding that is awesome and well done to him.
  17. MTB sizes are mostly sized in inches as opposed to road bikes in cm Bicycling have a guide line http://bicycling.about.com/od/howtoride/a/MTB_sizing.htm
  18. Also have a look at Silverback, you should be able to pick up a new 2011Ventura for that price. http://www.silverback.co.za/2011/ventura.jpg Going tubeles seems the general way to go, but i've found for the trails and routes around Jhb slime tubes works well and only cost about R60. Cleat's are superior to flat pedals, i have only ridden with shimano but there are also Look and eggbeaters as options and as far as MTB shoes go, i've found Olympic to be the best value for price. Other dealers you can try are Cyclelab in Fourways and Complete Cyclist in Peter Place.
  19. Also had good dealing, the Manitou shock on my Merida started to leak and they replaced it without asking details
  20. I'll get right on it
  21. Spare a thought for non CT riders doing the Argus they have to go to CT to collect Ita a schlep yes, but at the moment it serves the purpose of spreading out number collection. One way would be to also have number collection on race day and this works for smaller races but could be problematic for the bigger ones as you will need additional staff on the morning to cope. Being involved as a volunteer i can tell you we struggle to get enough volunteers to man intersections, WP, start marshals, back up drivers etc. Races in KZN such as Tour Durban and Amashova have collection days prior to race day. Some races do have local collection other than Jhb(Carnival, RFS, Emperors) Until we get some sort of electronic self print enterance i dont think there's much option.
  22. Ice ID, but i need to get my details updated with changes.
  23. Yikes reading some comments the Hub seriously has dropped in value
  24. Some i've used and their staff, hardly just off the street. Cyclefountain --- Owner does own wrenching Mean machine ----- Owner does own wrenching and holds a Doctorate in Engineering Finish Line ----- Owner has mechanic who he poached from another LBS Cyclelab K90 -----Owner has mechanic who races elite and when not racing loves fiddling with bicycles.
  25. Went earlier to the Cyclists Workshop in Peter Place, first impression is good. Small shop and not much on shelf display but chatting to them they can get whatever you want. Seem to have more MTB than road but thats expected with MTB on the increase. Very nice Niner they have as well.
