  1. Fair enough. Perhaps if you PM Johan Bornman - he owns an LBS and is knowledgeable on all technical matters relating to our steeds. If he says replace, then don't even argue. Good Luck
  2. Take it for a service to a good LBS (Local Bike Shop) in your area. Should set you back another +- R400 excluding parts that need to be replaced. Tell them to quote you on parts that need replacing first. Welcome to the Hub!
  3. Oh yes, never mind the broken glass and other things that can puncture your tyres - the barbel are savagely attacking all cars that venture through (not just the Camrys). That fisher-person (PC and all) is doing the public a service.
  4. I will bet you that fisherman is a MTB rider at heart. Not a clue what a road is there for.
  5. .... or in Japanese? "It's not unrusual to be rubbed by anyone"
  6. Good point Mampara
  7. False accusations I tell you - all false. Gremlin is innocent ( or are you Goodwill?)
  8. Well done Jacko & Ianj. This is working so well I am almost tempted to break into a weak rendition Ebony & Ivory. Jokes aside - nice to see people working together toward a common goal.
  9. I have never denied anyone making a profit - if they do not make a profit then they will not be around next year to do the same. I do also believe however that there is a difference between being profitable and milking it. I suppose they will charge what people are prepared to pay. That goes for race organisers, LBS', car dealerships, food stores, et al.
  10. are you talking to me? I hope you're not talking to me because I'm the only one here. 24 posts and still no sense of humour. How long do you think it will take? TommieV, relax. I am not going to pick a new member, but don't open yourself up either. Mampara is well aware of what his name means in Afrikaans - ever heard of "tongue-in-cheek"?
  11. Sorry, I don't follow you.?
  12. Good points one and all, but then you will get some knob asking how much you paid for your bike, and then tell you to stop moaning because look the price of your car and then there will be the how much did you pay for your house argument thrown in as well. It is precisely because of these things that most people can not afford to pay the race entry fees. I am in that position. Do not even think to tell me that I should be more financially prudent and not get myself into this type of situation - you have no clue as to what I can afford and WHY it is that I can afford it.
  13. Good news. Thanks to all involved.
  14. Well done and "big ups" to Mr Ples for posting this thread and also to Cradleresident for the positive way this is being approached. Cradleresident, your comment about "Works both ways" is welcomed by me. Not that I mean a whole lot, just giving credit where it is due. Another echo from me to the "I hope the cyclist is alright" sentiment.Gasping2010-01-25 04:37:05
  15. I agree. Why can't people be reasonable and drive like me?
  16. They need a bit of sun don't you think?
  17. The only thing I can see is a picture of a polar bear shovelling snow in a blizzard.

    "Rip off"

The price discrepancy could be due to a number of factors, the most common one is older stock purchased at a different price to the newer stock. As far as tyres go, the rubber compound would not have deteriorated appreciably so buy the cheaper one. This is the value of shopping around - you spend how much of your money where you can get the most for it. That being said, I am sure there must be benefits to having a relationship with your LBS of choice. I don't like getting into a money bargaining situation with anyone - people do it to me the whole time and it is a pain in the neck having to justify the cost every time. I would rather avoid the haggling and just but the item where it is cheaper.
