  1. These are not mine...one of the fellas i follow...one day when i grow younger [emoji3]
  2. the screws/pins are right at the bottom [emoji6] credit to her she has been trying...she has managed to reach her goals on a few occasions...for walking and she bought a dual sus bike to help soften the ride...she has also recently got a bike rack...so she can go ride on the beach...her plan is to get a watch with a hrm to monitor steps and rides.
  3. She has had major surgery on her back...where they have fitted screws/pins to hold her spine together.
  4. wow...we were 2 members plus kid and i had maxed out a 30 000 point for activity...my total points were only 42 000 and family total 64 660 (bronze) that is why i decided to take a step back...and rather use the monthly fee for other stuff.
  5. How many people here are with vitality as single members who have reached gold? How many have more than 2 members...ie family and have reached gold this year already or are on diamond ?
  6. Pity you cant drop off your garmin with me for 2 weeks...i could repay you for the coffee [emoji6] i wondered why you didnt join us yesterday and today for the club rides.
  7. Looks like the R3200 i save per annum paying vitality is going to go towards my new watch...this year. Next year the money will go towards my British passport application...and the year after towards my plane ticket to visit my family who have already left and living the UK. Maybe i should apply for the disco credit card use it as a saving account...the interest rate should be pretty good [emoji12]
  8. I joined the iron man training ride..this was the start...i dont plan on doing iron man...the sessions will get a lot more intense...my point is you should max our by the time you actually do the event
  9. Before i stopped uploading all my activities...and i am a 50 year old over weight ballie. There is gona be lots more complaining this morning...points up another 100 [emoji854]
  10. All this talk about points and hr...just checked my points...only on 400 this week...seems my heart stopped for a while [emoji12] will have to upload my coffee ride this morning...dont want to miss out on my coffee on wednesday [emoji6]
  11. i take my hat off to you...you must be one of the very few. lets have a vote...how many people pay off their entire credit card every month and how many are with 10 % of their limit...how many people have overdraft facilities which they just cant seem to get down to a manageable amount like Gerald where you can just pay it off ever month...be honest...it is not vitality ...no need to cheat by the way i dont blame discovery for the way people manage their money...we just suckers...or should i not generalize and say i am a sucker...that is why my personal limit is only R500...i was offered R50k for straight and R50k for budget...i had to turn it down...otherwise there would be another bicycle hanging on the wall in my office with a edge 520...power meters and a sweet set of wheels...i love spending money
  12. Or dont buy the extra gear and just enjoy the exercise [emoji3] strava still works with or with out vitality...it just means you dont pay R269 for R120 worth of coffee [emoji6]. Thank goodness it is the second friday this week [emoji3] [emoji1338][emoji1338][emoji1338][emoji1338][emoji1338][emoji1338][emoji1338][emoji1338]
  13. I would be really peeeed off... One of the reasons i havent got myself into R10k worth of credit card debit by taking the watch and credit card deal...(it is not just a watch deal)...the money they make from interests and fees is way more than they would make selling an iwatch...and the worse part is getting rid of the balance outstanding on the credit card when the watch deal is up...they will still make tons of cash in years to come...lets not even go into useage [emoji57] Then i could sign for a gym contract and go join the queues...been there done that...had the vitality gym contract... A couple years back... once again signing contracts...got tired of wasting petrol driving to the gym once or twice a month...i am not prepared to sign anything longer then 3 months...if they had a pay as you gym deal ...i would consider it. Once again ...it works for some people...take full advantage...but if it doesnt...toss it. I dont have a problem reaching my targets...i just dont want to be locked into contracts...or have to spend thousands on a device right now...who knows what futures holds for me.
  14. I achieve my goal 500 points in 2 cadence sessions...the 3 rd one I don't upload to GC...I also ride on Saturday and Sunday...an avg of 230 km per week...which are recorded using strava on my iPhone...which could total around 1800 points...however as of next week...my cadence session end...so no more points for me...unless I spend more money buying more devices. One thing I have learnt in life...there is no such thing as a free ride...somebody has to pay...how much depends on how smart you are. At the moment it cost me R900 + vitality cost R269....a total of R1169 to get R120 worth of coffee per month...as I don't use any of the other services offered....once cadence finishes...to continue to earn points once cadence comes to an end...I will need to outlay a couple thousand to invest in a device to to continue to get R120 worth of free coffee My point...it is not vitality's fault I am an idiot...you need to way up the pros and cons and decide how you can benefit from the offer...or dump it .
  15. Finally managed to get a new nose piece. I must say i am impressed with these glasses...they fell and I rode over them...looked back and they were in pieces...first thought was not worth going back...i did...picked up all the pieces...got home...just clipped all the pieces together...there is a scratched bit on the one arm ...but they work fine.[emoji3]
  16. monday is recovery day...no riding...today was back to the grindstone (interval training). i dont have a hrm on my bike...i just know it was flippen hard work on sunday...so today i eased into the training session...legs were a bit stiff in the beginning but by the end of the session we did a few 8 second from standstill accelerations...and managed to max at 1124 watts...averaging around 700 watts for the 8 seconds. Avg Max Speed 28.1km/h 64.8km/h Heart Rate 145bpm 171bpm Cadence 89 191 Power 156W 1,124W Calories 628 Elapsed Time 1:00:06 2 weeks left of cadence...then i am gona rest for a couple of days...and change my focus from pedaling the bike to eating better...all this hard work just seem like such a waste unless the extra 20 kg i carry around my waist goes away.
  17. I was told "once a upon a time" that you get sick from touching stuff that sick people touch then rub your eyes...how true it is i have no idea...never researched the comment...however i wash my hands a lot when around sick people... i also dont believe in taking medicine...unless i absolutely have to...like when i had all the pins fitted in my hand...i had no choice but to take pain killers. I have never had a flu injection.
  18. My second 100km road race...achieved my goal 3.45 (strava) ...still a lot of work required...official time 3.44.21 I was like one of those comrades runners who blast off at the start then barely make the cutoff [emoji57] ...i gave the ride everything i had...it just wasnt enough...i got dropped every time i managed to hang onto a group. I hope the cyclist who went down just before the bridge is ok...he was in a lot of pain. Respect to all the bigger... older and really young cyclist who flew past me...well done.
  19. Took a drive along the route... M7 ...stay alert Once through pinetown...the M19 has a short section which has not been resurfaced yet... At the bottom of the hill on the left corner there was rubble in the left lane...hopefully they will clear it by the morning...there are no lines yet but there are red cat eyes in the middle of the road...you dont want to hit them...as you go under the N2 ...looks like they burnt tyres on the road so just be carefull in the right lane Once on the M4 the road is good condition Hope you have a good ride...enjoy
  20. I am going to take a drive along the route tomorrow...but a warning about the gap between the concrete left hand lane and the middle tar lane...in the moseley park area after the Northdene on ramp...unless you can bunny hop...it will become and unpleasant experience.
  21. You should join the eccc ride from sun coast on sat morning
  22. Thats it... last training session this morning...a slow 30 km coffee ride tomorrow...then i might join the eccc fellas for breakers ride on sat...then sunday the big day [emoji3]
  23. Group DL ...start time 7.26 am [emoji3]
  24. Just a warning for everyone...the section before the hans dettman off ramp has a big gap between the concrete and tar big enough to swallow your tyre and rim...you dont want to get stuck in that section.
  25. The one and only advantage of being a larger fella...some high speed downhills [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3] The hills which will affect us heavier framed fellas [emoji12]...the M7 ...pinetown up to westville...climb up to umhloti...then the climb back up to umhlanga ...once past umhlanga its downhill all the way home [emoji3] so long as we dont get a busting SW.
