  1. I updated it an hour ago...tells me my fitness level is poor at level 1...seems I am doing something wrong...how important is the assessment ?
  2. It also tells me 60 years old [emoji15]...i must be answering the questions incorrectly.
  3. I had a look at my fitness level...level 1 (poor) log an avg of between 1300 and 2500 point per week... doing 3 intense interval cadence training sessions per week... a couple 5 km walks a week at an avg speed of around 7 km/h between 60 and 80 km cycle on sat morning... between 60 and 80 km cycle on a sunday or a mtb 45 km race...last race finished in 2.33 (for me that is fast compared to the 3.45 i normally do them) eeeeish so how to do improve your fitness level...my body is telling me i am over doing it a bit...last cadence session it felt like someone was hitting my legs with a hammer...maybe change my routine and add in 4 gym sessions and a week...i certainly cant cycle any more than i am at present.
  4. Some of those cracks in the concrete could eat a whole skinny wheel...but the holes on that section could eat a bike and rider...the trick is to stay in the right hand lane...i am too scared to dive in the other two lanes in motor vehicle [emoji15]
  5. Same here achieved well over 300...jumped to 400 It seems simple if you don't want your goal to increase from 300...only sync 300 points...use strava for the rest.
  6. Bought a park tool chain checker...now I wish hadn't...the tool just drops into the chain on the trek on both sides [emoji26][emoji26][emoji26] ... There is an up side...my other 3 bikes the tool doesn't drop in on either side [emoji3] I suppose you clock up the mileage on a second hand bike you purchase...things have got to got to start wearing out [emoji57]
  7. for all the people doing cadence cycling classes... go to selfloops - activities...download FIT file to computer... go to GC - activities...import...choose file upload activities from file... vitality - devices and apps...link a device or app...choose garmin...bingo. Just updated...lost the 100 points for logging in but got 300 point per visit for 30-89 min vigorous workout (heart rate)
  8. Found these old beauties under a cover a couple months back... I know this is not a two stroke..."wild thing" runs like a two stroke...when you doing 120 km/hr and still in first gear you just know when you bump it into second it comes up like my old YZ 490 use to...just wish I had better control between my brain and the throttle and a more understanding wife...I sold all my bikes because I was told they too dangerous...then I go get a bicycle thinking ok much safer [emoji57]
  9. Looking for a simple cheap way to achieve my vitality points...for cycling. for example...option 1 edge 25...+/- R 3200 standard mount... heart rate monitor... Garmin connect... ride your bike record the data including your heart rate and connect to vitality... points awarded...that simply? option 2... iphone 5...(already have one) wahoo hrm... +/- R1000 ride bike record using app ??? ...upload data to vitality...points awarded. option 3... polar....you get the idea. Any other suggestions...please try keep it simple for us older technically handicapped folk. it might have been covered in the vitality thread but that thread has got really long. feel free to add the more expensive options for those who can afford it.
  10. I see my target has been reduced to 300...easy just go past cadence and log in...100 points...3 trips per week...sorted until I get a device with hrm...been clocking 3000 points the past couple weeks...now it stops.
  11. Took the red rocket out for a spin yesterday...nice break from hot sweaty rides...only *** part is when the water fills up in your shoes...note to myself..."get shoes with vents in the bottom to let water out [emoji12]"
  12. Made some improvements... Replaced the terrible red bar tape...with black and red dots. Replace the red wall tyres...pity conti dont do tyres with red instead of yellow...gona polish the yellow with black polish...might even military tan to break the yellow Just need to dump the red bottle holders...i like the black and white.
  13. For the next 2 months...i use a hrm at cadence and load the load data to GC and linked it to my vitality. I am thinking about getting one of those wrist hrm...like a fitbit or the garmin one...they are super light and less chance of breaking the screen...while riding in the sticks...then one day when i can afford a 520 edge...it should also be compatible...i think...need to do more research.
  14. Points to reach my goal moved up to 700 this morning...last week i had a cracker week...training everyday.
  15. On lighter note...a smoothie before a movie...not a fan of the peanut butter one.
  16. took the advice posted here...setup a GC account...took my self loops file from my cadence class and dropped it into GC...went to vitality and added GC...hope i have done it right...will see from next month is i still get points via GC
  17. Did the 45 km fun ride the first year...55 cyclocross last year and thinking maybe the 105 road race this year.
  18. I almost went for this deal and yes i would have had to get the credit card to qualify...lucky for me the wise person in our house who hates apple...smacked my fingers with the ruler when i mentioned apple watch and credit card in the same sentence she can cut my finger off if they offer the fenix and 520 in a deal...and yes i would take the credit card with the additional fees...and they can bump my points up another 1000 points so long as they throw in a heart rate monitor in the deal.
  19. the catch is not the interest free watch...it is the interest and fees you gona be paying on a credit card that you didnt really need with a R10 000+ credit limit and all the money they will make on the data transfer and fees they charge the shops. yeah i know you gona say but you should be running up to the R10 000 credit limit...well a tight month and bang they got you...i dont have the watch or the credit card but i talk from experience from other credit cards. they know the repayments are safe because they will just debit the credit card...any way you look at it they win hands down.
  20. reading some of the responses on various social media platforms...people are complaining about not being about to reach their goals... my goal per week is 650 points...I dont even have to ride my bike to achieve this...if i do 3 x 5 km walks per week...my avg speed is 6.6 km/hr...i get 300 points...i go for a spin around the block and get 600 points. could it be that when people fill out the assessment they make out that they are super fit and get a high score for fitness then their goals are high. when i filled mine out...it comes back that i am a super unfit stressed out 70 year old...with other medical issues
  21. I would even apply for the credit card...so they would still score.
  22. hopefully they will do a garmin fenix and/or 520 deal sooner than later.
  23. Because my wife would bilksem me it I tampered with Shyte she spends hours researching to find the best options for medical aid/ hospital cover etc for our family.
