  1. I was on my way to the venue and saw what must have been one of the first, if not the first, 107km bunches leaving. Not even a few seconds later there was a single rider on the side of the road, bike upside down, repairing a puncture. We I eventually started, we rode past a bunch of broken glass on the shoulder not far from the start, so maybe he was unlucky to get a puncture there. So unlucky.
  2. πŸ₯± Don't quote my posts saying what I said was premature, when it wasn't. You like FinishTime, I don't.
  3. Lol, is FinishTime your system? πŸ™„ What is the benefit to "live timing"? And my start time is not "fixed". It's manually set to group F's start time. Every other timing chips I've used (RaceTec) and the foil temporary ones FinishTime uses for running gives you your start time when crossing the start. The chips today did not do that. I can rant as much as I like by the way.
  4. What also sucks about not using RaceTec is all your historical results can't be viewed on one website. πŸ˜”
  5. Also enjoyed the route! No, I'm not in a team/club but saw a bunch of Infinity riders too. I think you guys (Cape Multisport) stopped for a puncture before Stellenbosch, I rode up Hels on my own and then hung onto Infinity from Boschendal to Wemmershoek where I think you caught up again. But yeah, I definitely stayed at the back of both groups so as not to interfere. πŸ‘Œ You looked well organised.
  6. This photo was at 6:30 🀣 Only managed to park (in a paddock) about 15 minutes later. Got to the start at 6:55 πŸ™ˆ
  7. And obviously FinishTime is so *** they don't adjust the start time for when you actually started, so I'm over 10 mins slower which for a seeding event after busting your balls for 170kms is just not on. Emailed them and PPA for what it's worth. #amateurHour
  8. What the actual f*ck was the Pedal Power ASSociation thinking with the parking situation and the start? Arrived 25 minutes before my group start (6:15 for 6:39) and only managed to park around 6:45. Started at 6:59 at which point they were letting any and every group just go. Pathetic. Anyway, great ride (eventually). Smashed my 100 miler PB (angry cycling due to the start πŸ˜‚). The Cape Multisport guys were really strong. Managed to hold onto them for most of the way. Well done.
  9. Seems to be when you're on the bikehub.co.za home page. If you get to the forums another way, then the menu works fine (on the forums sub-domain). Hope this helps!
  10. https://forum.bikehub.co.za/discover/active works fine
  11. https://bikehub.co.za/discover/active Menu ➑️ Forums ➑️ Active Topics I get a page not found when following the nav above.
  12. These temporary timing chips are ridiculous. πŸ˜‚ #recycling
  13. Any news on if there are changes to the route or is the original still the plan?

  15. Nice, now if they could just patrol that entire area for the rest of time. Please and thank you.
  16. 163 is more tempting than 170 πŸ˜‚ Been training for CT Marathon which is this coming weekend, leaving only 2 weeks of proper long rides before the One Tonner – could just be a training ride itself. 😜
  17. It's literally as if the City/Government does not care, as this has been ongoing and now worsening for years. So sad.
  18. Helicopter flying too low. πŸ™ˆπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜‚
  19. Semi-related. One thing that definitely makes "events" more offputting now than before, considering the cost of fuel and general cost of living increases, is the number collection/registration aspect. Some (not all) events did not have many registration points, which means an extra trip and time off work (often the day before a race) to collect a silly sticker. Registering on the day of the event is often provided as an option, but that means an extra early start and unnecessary stress before your ride. And with logistics (thinking of Durbanville Racecourse), having to find parking, cycle (as far as you can) to the registration, and then back to the start is a real schlep IMHO. It's not unique to cycling – I run a lot and experience the same frustration with running events. Again, this isn't a new issue, but it irritates me enough that I need to vent. πŸ˜„
  20. β€œSA 100m record holder Carina Horn handed six-year doping ban Horn could return to action in 2029 at the age of 40, but her elite career has effectively been shut down. According to the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) established by global body World Athletics in an attempt to clean up the sport, national 100m record holder Horn had tested positive for the prohibited substance Clenbuterol at a track meeting in Spain in June 2022. Horn, who made history in 2018 when she clocked 10.98 to become the first South African woman to dip under 11 seconds in the 100m sprint, was suspended in September 2019 after testing positive for two banned substances. β€ŒClaiming that her supplements had been contaminated, Horn was able to have a potential four-year ban reduced to a two-year ban at the time.” 🀦 https://www.citizen.co.za/sport/carina-horn-six-year-doping-ban/
  21. Needs jail time. Negative ratings should be the least of this specimen's concerns!
