  1. Chappies road surface not looking any better yet. This just looks like a pile of klippies. https://www.iol.co.za/capeargus/news/resurfacing-of-chapmans-peak-a-danger-to-cyclists-12241692
  2. Any word back on this perhaps?
  3. "Cycling South Africa (CSA) requires that all entrants who are not a member of CSA or one of its affiliates, purchase a day licence for R35. On this page you will be able to join CSA as a full member for R120. If you choose not to be a CSA member, you will need to pay R35 for a day licence." Do PPA members have to buy this CSA licence?
  4. Thanks for posting. Enjoyed the read. Chuckled about that Spur pic comment.
  5. Been following the FB feed. This looks eina:
  6. Thanks Chris. Will do.
  7. Can we trade the old ones in?
  8. So keen to enter this event next year. Getting excited now and i'm not even riding. Please post detailed reports afterwards.
  9. So glad i entered at the last minute. Next year i will enter sooner.
  10. Great! I will be entering. Just wanted to make sure though as sometimes the late entries can be ridiculously expensive. The R50 i will pay gladly. Looking forward to Sat.
  11. Hi Anna Do you know how much the late registration fee is? I completely missed the closing date but don't want to miss the event. Will a friend be able to enter for me?
  12. Great approach LK and well done!
  13. Yoh. How was that wind? On the way there on the Somerset West side we were wondering why so many cars with bikes on were on the way back already. Then we parked at the start venue and understood. I made full use of the registration process to quickly change to the 30. Really glad i did. Judging from the box nearly full of uncollected boards for the 60 i think quite a few riders opted out. Well done to all who attempted and finished any distance today. Testing conditions. I was blown over in a loose sandy section. A lady in front of me was blown slightly off the singletrack straight into a large tree stump - well done for saving yourself from falling very hard right at the end though.
  14. Shot. Very light rain then if any. Bittersweet.
  15. How is the weather looking for Sunday?
  16. Here is the complete 30km profile and stats. Edit: Sorry, not getting this upload right. Anyway, it's as the post above, 29.4km and climbs around 645m.
  17. Enjoyed a relaxed 30km with the Mrs yesterday. Decided to dust off her bike and sign her up at the last minute. Luckily for me it was a very enjoyable outing. It was also great meeting and chatting with Ariane afterwards. The new chill zone was not ideal. Far too little shade and some of the Spur benches/seating was set out right in the middle of the sunshine. Maybe this was a last minute change to the venue. Anyway, we grabbed our food and went to sit in the shade closer to the carpark but it would've been nice to chill closer to where post event festivities were. That said, we will be back next year anyway.
  18. General entries now open.
  19. Really felt sorry for the riders trying to get through. We were caught within the first couple of km's. There was quite a bottleneck at the Brunox tunnel/bridge thing and i was thinking of the speedsters heading our way in a few minutes, dreading the "Skuus Oom"s to follow. The youngsters etiquette was rather good. Don't think i held anyone up. I tried my best to let them fly past as quickly as possible and most of the people in front of me seemed lekker about it all too, but it is the only little thing i would look at improving. Anyway, how sweet was that wooden ramp/suspension bridge as you exit the forest section (second half of the 63km)? Loved it.
  20. What a lekker event. Trails were bliss. Weather was great. Waterpoints were superb. Scenery was stunning. The marshalls and support at the waterpoints were great. Instantly one of my favourite events.
  21. Lined up 2 mates to join me tomorrow. Heard so much about this event so we are really looking forward to it now. Early morning tomorrow, klapping breakfast in the car on the way there, big flask of coffee, good conversation, lekker roadtrip with the fella's. Bring it on!
  22. To them i give kudos, hope they have a massive feeling of accomplishment and enjoy their seeding anywhere behind 3E
  23. So in the spirit of giving preference to the 2017s in 2018, can we also get a 2018 seeding at least equal or better than 2017?
  24. Entered. Paid. See you guys on the 11th! Lekker.
  25. As a local, the entry fee is the only significant cost attached to the event. I would easily be willing to pay more than double for the opportunity to ride CTCT. If i had to, i would cut spending on other events to ride this one.
