  1. Hey Steno, yes, I did. Combination of lack of skill, lack of speed, watching the front wheel dip under the surface and not looking further ahead then, splash! Had a good laugh about it over a couple of beers afterwards. It is right at the end of the ride and the water was rather refreshing. I did however pass my phone to my buddies who were not attempting the crossing. It was fun attempting it. My bike didn't melt. [EDIT: Nothing was damaged and the bike was just serviced as per normal thereafter, so no abnormal problems arose.] If you don't want to ride over it then don't. No need to stress about it. The day is about so much more than just the last couple of metres over the crossing (or not over it). Its going to be a great day out so just enjoy it any way you like.
  2. Yes please!!!
  3. Their own site is updated: https://www.stbb.co.za/stbb-mtb-2018/ Just seems to be the link from here that isn't
  4. Entered. Hoping to stay dry during the dam crossing this time!
  5. If I may ask, will we be able to use CL vouchers at the CWC/CL store in future and if so, from when?
  6. All set for tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Has the event been effected at all by the rain/storm of the last couple of days?
  7. Absolutely loved the 50km today. Weather was great. Waterpoints were excellent. Trails were fun and flowy. A bit of traffic but hardly ever stops and it didnt detract from the ride at all. A couple of lungbursting climbs to keep you working. This is a definite for next year. Well done to the organisers.
  8. Judging from the 100miler guys flying past me on the way to finishing my 50miler, it looked like gravel bikes took the 100miler 1,2 and 3. Is this correct?
  9. Did the 50miler last year, upon finishing i clearly remember saying to myself, thank F i didn't enter the 100. Found the 50 unexpectedly challenging. Been on the bike even less this year but entered the 50 again. Feeling apprehensive but looking forward to getting on with it. Come on weekend!
  10. As per the entry confirmation e-mail: Provisional Registration Times: Thursday, 17 May: 14h30 17h30 Registration, Bellville Cricket Club, Bellville Friday, 18 May: 12h00 18h00 Registration @ Dirtopia Trail Centre, Delvera Farm Saturday, 19 May: 07h30 08h45 @Delico (Need to register at least 30 minutes before your race) Have these registration locations and times been confirmed?
  11. Entries are open! This has become a must-do event. Roped in some more buddies to enter this year. Looking forward to this one. EDIT: CORRECTION: Early Bird Entries...
  12. A super experience today. Cape Town showed off today and it was great privelage to have ridden this event after all the uncertainty leading up to it. So saddened by the news of the fallen rider. It could have been any of us. Heartfelt condolences.

Not a fair comment at all hey, clearly the pothole hit him: ""It was very likely a pothole that hit his back wheel,"
  14. Just received an SMS from CTCT saying that they are experiencing problems with the printing...please reg later or tomorrow. Right, so if everyone who was going to reg today now join the people who were going tomorrow anyway, isn't tomorrow set up for disaster as well?
  15. 2E. Lekker. Just had a screw put in after a wrist compression fracture earned at Simonsberg Contour on Sunday. Chances of making the event anyone? Would it perhaps be better to ride it on the mtb?
  16. Probably not, they used to run out of water long before talks of Day Zero even began anyway.
  17. Yesterday at registration it was mentioned that the medium route was trimmed to 31km.
  18. Anyone know how the timing is going to be done? Asking for a friend (for real). I will be stopping at all the waterpoints and taking in the scenery as much as possible. The youngsters can gun the medium route, i will try my best to stay out of their way and avoid the dreaded "'skuus oom".
  19. By that argument then why stop with just cancelling the CTCT and 2Oceans? Lets then also cancel all other sports as they also make you dirty and thirsty. What about going to work? Can we cancel that too?
  20. Thanks. Entered day 2. Lekker.
  21. Can only ride a single day. Which day would you recommend? From earlier posts it sounds like day 2. Are we in agreement?
  22. Trying to help a friend out with an entry. Do you perhaps know whether there are still any of these entries available? On the CTCT website it only shows that International entries are still open. Edit: I also tried the Racetec website. Not able to enter there either.
  23. Found this for what it might be worth: https://www.relive.cc/view/1342883716 PS. I mailed the contact as per the event entry page, if I hear back i will post the route info.
  24. There are 3 or 4 of us planning to enter the event but deciding between the medium and the long distance. Can you provide route profiles for the medium and long? Or just total ascent for each will do.
  25. Edit: Double post
