  1. Not a single one. An 11spd chain and a chainstay protector. That's now the whole list.
  2. I ordered some rotors, a pump, 180mm adapter, bar end plugs, etc. Small stuff that accumulated in my basket until it was enough to cover free shipping. I was now charged 15% import duties on this CRC order. i paid it at SAPO. Its not a big amount but i was wondering in future, can you contest the assessment or what do you do if you see it is wrong?
  3. Regarding the 60km, I think they are trying to tell you something in the route description, highlights being: 1. This route is for the extreme rider 2. This is not an easy route 3. you need a high level of fitness 4. test your endurance and climbing ability 5. route includes some steep and long ascents 6. this route should only be done by the very fit and skilled riders 45km it is for me thanks.
  4. For in case you haven't heard: EVENT POSTPONED Unfortunately the event has been postponed after Backsberg withdrew the use of their venue and routes on Friday 31 March 2017 due to "unforeseen safety issues" on their side. We did look at all alternative options and were unable to find a suitable alternative venue and routes in time. We want to ensure that you get the best experience possible. We will notify everyone about the new date as soon as possible. All entrants will receive an email before the end of Monday 3 April 2017
  5. The second big hill of the 73km which was sort of made up of 3 sections. I did not see one person riding up the first climb. Then the last of the 3, approaching the waterpoint at the top of the hill, didn't see anyone riding it to the top either. But hey, i was riding in ME, maybe it was a different story higher up.
  6. 99er 45km climbs 1275m. Philadelphia over the 39km only climbed 667m. The 99er has more singletrack and less sand though but the climbing over a similar distance is a big step up from Philly.
  7. I forgot to mention that it was still an enjoyable ride. My sense of humour might have waned at around 60km but thats on me. I will definately enter again next year and so will the rest of the guys that were sitting at our table. Your efforts are appreciated.
  8. The second hill was a bit silly. Two unrideable climbs to the top then a straight line rapid descent which was a bit of a waste of altitude. The approach route to the first hill climb was an improvement though. In other news could parents of kid racers please ensure that they equip them with a critical piece of kit on their bike: manners. I witnessed a few instances where young riders were pushing past on the left where there wasnt space to pass and with no warning what so ever. One ladys handlebars were clipped and she very nearly fell. Completely unnecessary. All they need to do is call out and most people will gladly move over.
  9. What would Thule Roof Racks be categorised as? The CRC prices on them are pretty sweet. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/thule-smart-rack-127cm-roof-system/rp-prod137667
  10. Recently refurbed Mongoose Meteore 29er. Frame was done by M&S Epoxy, Stikland - best price i could find. 1x10 thanks to the Rapide 11-42. 2nd hand fork from the Hub. Some used bits i had lying around and new bits from CRC. Build was done by Tygerberg Cycles. Still a few changes to be made before its ready for the couch photo shoot.

  12. https://www.arrivealive.co.za/Report-Bad-Driving-Background Has anyone tried this recently? Any success?
  13. Maybe all entrants can get a complimentary PPA membership for a year instead. Imagine the next AGM.
  14. Interesting: At 05:00 David readily admits that until now they have not done any analysis on the weather trends over the last 4 or 5 years and specifically wind in early March.
  15. If they did we would be getting refunds. As we aren't they probably didn't.
  16. Posted after spending too much time on the CTCT threads. Mean't it to be tongue in cheek. Hope you get a refund though.
  17. No refunds probably as per T & C's
  18. In other news, I saw a guy on a MTB with race number etc cycling towards Century City in the yellow lane on the N1. Think other people were also watching him because i heard a car slamming into the back of another slow moving vehicle in the fast lane. What a way to top off your morning by crashing into other cyclists making their disappointed way home. It wasn't at high speed though but enough to probably have wasted the bikes on the front car if they were on the rack.
  19. Edit: Sorry, wrong thread.
  20. Will next year then still be the 40th argus?
  21. Cancelled. Lots of guys heading back into parking lot.
  22. Can i request that people weighing over 110kg start from the top of Suikerbossie?
  23. I suspect the majority of bikes on the trails are e-bikes. Every time someone rides past me i think: Don't worry, it must have been an e-bike.
  24. Enjoyed the 55 today. Loved the exposed singletrack that runs along the hillsides - think its the first 30km. The powder made for a scare or two but today i luckily didnt run out of talent too badly I found the waterpoints quite basic but have learnt to rather pack my own goodies these days. Will do this event again next year. Please book the cooler weather as well, it made for a much more pleasurable outing.
