  1. Hi guys. Who do you feel is the best option for race photography? I had to do with three this year. First is actionphotography.net They are not bad but definitely not great. Theyre websit is better now but still has a lot of hassles. the links rarely work. Their photo quality is also not that spectacular and they seem to have a problem with their white balance in 90% of their photos. OH...and their price is MAD. R47 for a digital image???? What is up with that? They are however at a lot of the races Second is Oackpics.com Well, I dont know how they make money, because they still have not replied on a email about some pics I want?? (They were at the robertson race) Third was red photography I was impressed with them. They helped me easily, and I was seriously impressed with their photo quality. By far the best. They also only asked R35 a digital image, which is way better than the above mentioned. (They were at the fair cape race) Does anyone have any other that they want to point out? I dont know how the associations with a race works, do the organisers go to them? Maybe if we can point out the best ONE here it would make it easy for race organisers to choose and make it easier for us to get hold of our photos at a lower cost. Please give some input
  2. I love my white rims. And its not such a sclep to keep them clean as everybody says
  3. Easy way to test if it is your mixture is chemically reacting with one another is the following: Make the same mixture in a 1l coke bottel (NB the plastic ones). Pull a balloon over the tap, and leave it be. If it inflates a bit after a while then you know something funky is going on. Also note the temperature before and after of the mixture, if you have a thermostat even better. If it warms up, and inflates the balloon it indicates the two are reacting with one another. Would really like to hear the outcome of the experiment. As for your tyres, I dont know enough, ask the tech guys.
  4. Awesome. Will give it a shot like this
  5. Ok, so my LBS firmly believes that that mounting thing that goes between the skewer and the fork is the root to all evil concerning my brakes. I have had huges issues with my brakes!!! Now they cable tied it to the front fork. Will it have issues picking up??
  6. I checked now. My seeding improved from I to H
  7. Arent they supposed to do a seeding run on the first wednesday of every month?
  8. Hi I am thinking of upgrading to one of these Avid Elixer CR or Avid Elixer 5 The Second is cheaper than the other, does anyone have any experience with them. Are they worth the money? Is the CR worth the extra money? Is there something else I should look at? Any advice would be cool
  9. I dissagree. If okes will pay R20 000 to enter a two man team in something like the epic, why would they not do the same for s big road event. I think roadies are pasionate enough... I think make the event and people will come.. I also feel the local "pros" will rise to the occasion fairly quickly. Look what the epic did for MTB in the country, now think what a event like this can do for Road cycling
  10. About the route...You can have it all in SA!!! Id say the lesotho (Although actually SA itself but close enough) mountains can rival the alps!! You can start in the awesome Limpopo bushveld (maybe Kruger park) and end under Table mountain and still have some Km left to burn.. WOuld be amazing And I am actually a mountain biker.
  11. Have had the same thing. I find it strange. How the hell do they make their money if they ignore the costumers who wants to buy the pics. Not smart.
  12. Mine I got from bass fishing, but applies really well to cycling
  13. I feel that the price doesnt matter because from the deal I still get to do a race and get to do it in the most spectacular places. Most races in the cape also time you, so then you can also keep track of your progress. I dont think its the easiest thing planning and organising a race, and I am thankfull for people that actually go out of their way to plan these events. Therefore I shoes and try to take part and support as many of them. My 2c

    Roman seat

Ive got the Specialized Romin and fits me like a glove
  15. I ve got 900 lumens. bought it last week. I ride it on dim 50% of the time. When I get to technical stuff I put it on bright and it looks like the sun just came up. More than enough light.
  16. While rinding on the jonkershoek road got taken out by a car. Went through the windscreen and off the other side. My arm got cut up badly and my forearm muscle got gut off and had to be reattached. Now I MTB Picture to follow. Be warned.
  17. Seriously, seriously????? If you dont like sitting behind the okes in the single tracks, be there before them. How is it that a dikgat beats you to the singletrack?????? I also had the problem of sitting behind someone that does not know how to ride a singletrack, and I do, but they pased me in the climbs and stuff before hand were I was not that strong. So instead of blaming the organisers, I got fit and beter with the pieces before the singletrack. Sort out your own problems, dont point the finger somewhere else.
  18. This is mountainbiking...Its you and your bike vs MOTHER NATURE!! and she is not always fair, so man up. Anyway, whats not to love about technical stuff? Its a awesome rush. In road cycling (which I know little about) its about endurance and tactics, in MTB its about endurance and skill. Technical skills is and integral part of mountainbiking and by removing it from races is like making a rugby ball round, it takes away one whole aspect of the sport!! Getting to the finish line after a hair raising down hill is very satisfying.. My 2c

    why ride

A few rides back, I ended up on top of the world, or so it felt. And then as the sun started to set, and I sat on a rock point miles above the everyday chase after nothing, I wondered how I could or would try to explain to friends and loved ones that dont ride, the satisfaction I got from breaking the back of the hill I just climbed..to get to a place so lonely and so peace full you feel like the first person ever to sit there. And how would I explain the slowly increased adrenaline rush coming on as I know that there is a hectic single track that lies before you. How would I explain the feeling of looking back when I am down again, pointing and sayin "damn, where we there?". You cant explain that to someone that does not ride. You cant explain it in a book, or with a photo or nothing. You have to experience it for yourself Its AWESOME
  20. I dont know about shoulders, But I had my ACL torn of in my knee. Went with the opp, it took a while but is perfect now. Id go for the opp. Just my opinion. Dont expect miracles, but I do feel it will heel faster and better with surgery. Strongs
