  1. How long do you think it will take? Sounds really interesting.
  2. I spoke to he owner of Maestro today, interesting character. He has some strong views on the bike industry and have me some insight into just how little a carbon frame costs at the factory gate! $100 for an authentic pinarello.... He is Colnago through and through, limited frames hand built and painted. And he really dislikes the American companies. He basically said Colnago is the only frame not built in China or Taiwan. There is also a cool video of Ernest Colnago On the website telling his story. Talk about italian passion.
  3. Hope you guys enjoyed the rest of the ride. I can tell you the choice is tough and like you put it, Italian heritage and tradition Or the latest technology Test ride may be the only option
  4. Just read about these guys very interesting, he seems to send to SA. Have you dealt with them before? Prices are great but I worry if there are warranty issues as not buying local. Will customs hit me with any import taxes on a frame and components, I have wheels. Having said that specialized did me over on my warranty issue and they are down the road in Stellies.
  5. Cool thx guys, a wealth of wisdom and advice.
  6. Colnago C59 looking like the one...if only they had black on black... The team edition is nice. May have to venture towards campy on it. Who distributes or retails colnago?
  7. That Evo is very nice, problem is on the Epic we called the crack and fail....until I cracked both my roval wheels and Spesh Epic frame-oops The Look looks very nice may take you up on that demo ride offer. My road bike experience is only the Roubaix, Hansom and Peugeot. Will test ride most of them over the next month and then decide. it's like buying a small motor vehicle so a test ride is probably a must.
  8. I was told that the Evo is uncomfortable and you can feel every bump in the road? The salesman that told me that did have a floor full of Pinarellos though...
  9. After spending to much time riding on the dirt and after enjoying Killarney racing week after week I have decided to upgrade my road bike and try this road racing. I have a 2010 specialized Roubaix Pro, Ultegra, Zipp 404 Firecrest wheels. Now I want something a bit more racey and cool. On my shooping list 1. Colnago C59 - They now come with disc brakes - wtf 2. Pinarello Dogma Think 2 - Everyone with a bit of money seems to have one! To popular 3. Merckx EMX 525 - The Cannibal, gotta be an option! 4. Cervelo R5 - Clean lines, mmm 5. Specialized SL4 - Only had specialized bikes so keen for a change. My preference these days is Shimano, but some may say those Italian frames deserve campy?
  10. All sounds like politics to me....
  11. My first DC 6:13, on of the best events around. Well done Coronation and the organizers.
  12. Just the right time for cramping!
  13. I am doing that same baviaans trip in march over 3 days followed by a week in Plett riding harkeville and chilling with the new family! Now someone wants to rope me into and epic again a week before my planned trip! What to do, what to do. After Epic 2012 not that keen on this one.
  14. I just think its odd that both rims fail with the frame? I have never had a crash with the bike and it 10months old? Now I need a replacement bike before W2W, what are the chances. Lbs recons specialized will not replace rims but will do the frame if they had stock. If the roval carbon wheels cannot handle my riding over 9 months then I am skeptical on carbon MTB rims. Apparently because the crack starts from the outside then it's not a defect, really? Must run from the inside out? I feel a fight brewing....
  15. Turns out my frame is cracked too, unbelievable!
  16. Will send pic tomorrow
  17. Train and ride. Not much racing, at least not podium stuff...
  18. I do but surely that's a product defect, no?
  19. Bike is less than a year old and found out today both rims are cracked! Wtf is this a warranty issue? Have not crashed the bike ever!
  20. Harsh but fair, where do you draw the line or should I say pink marker?
  21. And overall attitude to life.
  22. O I thought automatic DQ, maybe I just like Hermida too much...????????
  23. Fontana going outside the pink markers when he touched wheels with Kulhavey, should be DQ
