  1. This topic is boring, go ride your bikes. Merry Xmas
  2. Going up for 4 days with the road bike and mountain bike? I have done the Tieties Baai ride but need something longer for Attakwas preparation?
  3. Train hard and race easy.
  4. How? I have a medium at 11.5kg(2010)? XTR Wheelset, Tubeless, Schwalbe racing Ralfs, XTR Crank, XTR Brakes, SRAM XO triggers, derailleur, Richy carbon handle bars and spcialized Rocca grips, XTR pedals. Tell me the secret?
  5. I first want to say the my garage has 3 Specialized bikes in it. I rode that exact Bulls bike a month ago in Tokai and did not want to get off, if I wanted a race machine with big hoops the Bulls Carbon frame for sure. That demo bike had very average to bad rims and components it you spend some money there you would have an awsome bike. The distributor for Bulls is also super helpful and actually gives a damn...as for Bulls bike been new, well if its good enough (and developed by Carl Platt) it's good enough for me. I am on my way to the LBS for another specialized 'Brain' service, but it may be my last!
  6. Hard to miss. Its a beauty! Eyes are peeled
  7. thank you
  8. I did the the 3 day door to door delivery? It has been a week now. Any idea as to where I can get a soft Garmin heartrate strap? CRC sold out and local shop has never seen a soft strap!! I ordered the bundle package but dont like the look of that plastic strap...
  9. My Garmin E 500 arrives on Monday from CRC -pleeezzzz have bands and brackets...
  10. I am riding a 2009 Stumpy S-works with the Specialized future shock. The problem is that the 'Brain' system does not seem to function 100%, you eaither have it soft and thus full travel including bouncing up and down when climbing. Or 'firm' and it behaves like a rigid fork great for tar but not so much on dirt. It is very irritating. Question - can I get an adpter to swop that fork out for the new SRAM XX lock out forks? I heard the 2010 models can do it but can the 2009 stumpy? Will more then likely swop my XTR for XX at some point once that XTR stuff looks worn.
  11. On Garmin 500, can you map a route and 'race' yourself on the same route? What did you pay for the Garmin 500, seems a whole lot cheaper in the UK 200GBP.... It just seems garmin is taking the lead on technology, I guess change is as good as a holiday. Thx for the input.
  12. So my old Polar was kindly stlolen and need a replacment. Any views on Garmin VS. Polar I mainly use the monitor on my MTB and Road bike, with some spinning sessions. I don't really require maps. But keen on power meter training in the near future. No interest in Suunto Should I switch from Polar to Garmin. Shot
  13. Ok Heavy Individuals.
  14. I am tired of paying excess baggage for my bike. They should weigh people with their baggage to give a true reflection of overall weight. I must weight 110kg (77kg me and 33kg bike/baggage) and then there is a guy who must weight 120kg without his baggage and tucking into an ice cream, he doesn't pay a cent extra. Am I just insensitive or tired of paying!!
  15. Go donate some blood instead. You may need that nut?
  16. Respect to Lance for putting himself out to raise money and ride with a few wealthy guys. I'm just jealous!!! Lance is a living legend!
  17. Hi Anybody know of a reliable logistics companies to transport my bike up for the 94.7. Or is it cheaper to check in at Kulula?? Thx
  18. So I am not alone, my motto is 3 hour bike ride and 45min wash, degrease, lube up and shine. My Stumpy S-works always looks new and no mechanical issues. If you are going to spend 60k on a bike then look after it! Cleaning is actually quite relaxing for me, but not around the house! Bikes only......
  19. Could someone with more road bike experience please guide me as to which frame is better? Mainly using it for training and the the odd 100km race? Also considering the Bianchi 928 C2C?? I have only done MTB for the last 3 years and the last road bike I had was a steel Hanson?? 15 years ago. Out of touch Thx
  20. Thank you for doing a great job on the single tracks, I have met the people involved that sacrifice time and money for the rest of the MTB community. I have no doubt that next year all the problems with registration will be sorted. I will be out there soon to support the Wellington MTB dream.
  21. Ja, PPA we need those new numbers ASAP. The last seeding race seemed to be MTB Argus? Please pull it together. As for the Gravel Travel crowd, nice people and great event but pre entries should be fast (liability signiture and number pick up).
  22. Let me start by disclosing that I am a Specialized fan and ride a Stumpy S-Works 2009. My mate spotted a small crack on his Stumpy S-works frame and the bike went to Specialised in JHB. The distributor said the crack was from a bike clamp? Funny thing is that his bike clamp fits onto the down tube not even close to where the crack is. Specialised will not even discuss the issue and will thus not replace the frame! What has happened to customer service but alas this is not the first issue with Specialized SA. I would suggest the holding company in the US relook at their distributors and how they treat clients. Letter in the post. Dissapointing Specialized SA - pick up your game!
  23. Legend - Thank you. Must leave for that Tokai night ride now - add 1 kg for my lights!!
  24. 9.5kg Stumpy??? Jeez my comes in at 11.4kg S-works 2009 dual with future fork. XTR wheel set/crank/pedals/brakes S-Ram XO cassette, shifters, hollow point chain Richie carbon handlebars/Stem Spesialized seatpost/SL seat Maxxis cross mark tyres/tubeless Where do I cut 2kg???
