Also VA. May be a bit fast for me. O well, will have to hang on for as long as possible.
  2. I think they did the same thing for the 57km. My time was out, don't rate this trail tag system at all. Racetec works Maurant use it!
  3. So has anyone tried the Kask helmets? The aero jobs. I wear a helmet cause its just faster, no?
  4. Anyone know who sells Kask helmets in Cape Town, I am looking for one of those aero helmets! Need all the help I can get....
  5. I lost my dad last year September. He taught me to ride early on and we did all the fun rides around JHB and then Argus when I came down to study at Stellies. He really loved the bike (motorized and pedal) and I started cycling again in my late 20's. now every time I get on a bike it reminds me of those good times. Now I have son (11 months) and cannot wait to ride with him and have the same experiences. And so the cycle of life continues, pun intended. And my next Epic is for the old man.
  6. My team from last year is on the website? Maybe I can request a fee for using me a shmodel! Very keen for this one. Sub 6 the goal
  7. It looks like more bolts/locks and security gates for us. The Labradors to friendly to be a problem but for some reason the locals don't enjoy a black dog... Given him a collar with studs to make him look aggressive. I grew up in JHB and never felt this unsafe. My uncle in jHB walked into his sons room one night after hearing voices (son was away) to find five black individuals looking at him, one had a 9mm tried to fire it but it jammed. My uncle had his 38 revolver(they never jam) and fired at these thieves hitting one in the neck, the other panicked and jumped though the window of the second floor onto a concrete patio. Police arrived and let the intruder bleed out before calling an ambulance. I asked my uncle if he will sell and move in case they come back. His answer, I hope they return!!I will use the firearm, but the police are probably in cahoots with the criminals one you have the license and then a target. This just irritates me, but I cannot think of a solution.

  9. Don't know about everyone else but crime has picked up dramatically in the Newlands area. Guys crow barring front doors open, beating up families and going wild. Just beefed up security with alarm locks and security gates but still worried. Would feel far safer with a firearm under my bed but the wife hates the idea. My Labrador is also useless.... What are the options?
  10. I have always ridden specialized MTB and paid the pretty penny for the r&d and warranty. Until it came to claim/warranty time on two cracked roval rims and the rear stay (under the front blade). They said the rim cracks were impact cracks! Really genius, it a mountain bike and refused to give a warranty. The stay they said was also impact but to do that I would need to hit something that would rip off the front blade. They would do me a 'favour'! Thanks you did as I will never buy another specialized bike and I have had 5. If you are not in stellenbosch click you have no hope of a warranty or any form of service. Rant off
  11. New Phil wood BB and caps for my fixie under construction.

I always promise myself to train harder in December for this event, never happens. Any idea on weather, I heard a rumour about possible rain. Light drizzle would be great, mud for 130km not so great!
  14. I am a massive target then, riding up plum pudding at like 3km/h.....that hill hurts. Hope youre back on the bike soon Grumps
  15. Why not set up a sting operation? Monitor the mountain in the evenings, work out where they hide and wait right there for them... One dose of SWAT in the face, some cable ties, a good few klaps and leave them out for the the rangers to find them it they ever patrol. Sorry to say but force is the only way. I am tired of relying on the authorites, kangaroo court alll the way! Maybe the book about killing Brett Kebble has got to me.....I used to be so forgiving. I ride the blockhouse often by myself and they will not stop me. I will only fight if better prepared then them.
  16. Goodbye to a true legend, thoughts and prayers to your family.
  17. And in the cape?
  18. I tried CRC but am missing other opportunities, like a local retailer that can compete?
  19. I was seroiusly considering the super six over a Colnago C59, spoke to a dealer in the UK Maestro Cycling and he put it bluntly when I asked about warranties. 'Son, Colnagos don't just break they are made to last first and foremost not like the other frames made in China and Taiwan' Sold hundreds of C59 not one come back....warranties are something the american companies instituted as their 'lightweight' frames dont last.' I have seen many older version Cannondales on the side of the trail, and now their super duper Evo 'shatter six' seems to have similar problems. Thank you for making my decision I rather have the extra 300grams of carbon lugs and save on the dental work, post crash. Goodbye Cannondale, hello Colnago.
  20. Do you have a race entry for me please?
  21. Only guys from the east rand could ride with glocks! Love it, my old hood
  22. A few years back while waiting at the robot outside the Orange st. Engen. I saw a mugger taking a hand bag and camera from elderly tourists who wondered down from the Mount Nelson. I decided to help out and gave chase, when he realized that I was going to beat him he dropped the goods which I collected. Only to draw a six inch blade and start chasing me! When I got to the car the tourist where in my back seat and I dived in and sped off. This all happened over a few minutes but nobody helped at that busy intersection.... Tourists where dropped off safe and sound never to return. So now I drive around well prepared and ready.
  23. Then what do you do once said thief is incapacitated and rolling on the floor? I am not sure that my next move would be a calm and collected get away...
  24. Actually you are right, my 1983 Bianchi steel frame with super record cost that. I do however ride it to work in my suit....really
  25. R4k bike, time for an upgrade!
