  1. And that's the exact reason I went for it!
  2. Cool, so you're gonna build your parts over? Don't take the pink one and you'll be happy with it! I really am loving mine. TitusTi2007-03-23 04:01:12
  3. Remember the weight for the Giant is inclusive of the post but minus the clamp (I think). Got a picture of mine somewhere will stick it up in a minute.
  4. The Giant is pretty damn light! My bike in size helluva big tips the scales in at 7.5 with DA 28 rims and a DuraAce gruppo, that includes everything, like bottle cages, pedals, computer, hell I even weighed it with the pump still on the bike.
  5. Just got my Giant at the beginning of the month, it rides real good! Maybe the scott is stiffer but I haven't noticed any issues with this? Really comfortable to, removes alot of the road buzz.

Actually Specialized is made in the Merida factory to be more accurate. And it doesn't use the Specialized brain system, it just uses a normal shock in the same position.
  7. I love it when people learn but seriously Phen, try putting some petrol in the freewheel body and all over the wheel in fact, then light it, most satisfaction you're gonna get from them! In all honesty though, the hub probably needs to be rebuilt completely, stick all new bearings in, not just some, all! They're a pretty common size (6061, I think), and get them to check out that fat rubber seal, it might need to be cut. Good luck!

Yeah, try look for something with about 100mm of travel, an LX/XT mixed gruppo or the X7/X9 mixed gruppo. Giant is always a good option on a budget. One day once you've tried everything else you can get a Titus, it's what you get once you know what you're looking for.

Alas, customising is the only way to get what you want.

Hey Fishy, what do you want to do with the bike? What will it's purpose in life be?
  11. BUt apparently you can mention Toyota and Ferrari in the same breath. Upon whom is this a judgement?
  12. Great word, thanks!
  13. Yeah, and in that time they gave us a front derailleur. Baby steps.
  14. Okay, I feel I'm missing something here, what does that mean?
  15. Freeriding has made Cannondale and others a bucket of money and opened up whole new arena's for Mtb'ers, what point are you trying to make?
  16. The devil's in the detail isn't it (Or in the use of plural or not in this case)
  17. Ask the coaches, I had nothing to do with it, I simply did as the coach said?
  18. Quite alot, used to be in the high 160's we're now scraping the low 180's.
  19. That's right, you have to take it to Gladman Erasmus who will charge you R300 to rebuild your Shimano STI. TitusTi2007-03-22 08:23:42
  20. My lactate threshold has slowly gotten better?
  21. I find a good time to do it is when you're angry at the world and feel like holding something down and kicking it until it stops moving?

That spoke calculator is wildly inaccurate as far as weights go, it's designed to calculate spoke lengths. As to the wheels, don't get crossmax (I've said this before but I'm gonna say it again) get DT Swiss hubs or even the Ringle Dirty Flea, also pretty good, if that fails get plain old XTR hubs (M970). Build this up using one of the many Stans rims (I would recomend the ZTR355) and lace them with DT Super Comp or Comp's, if you've got the cash and wanna splash lace them using the Sapim CX Ray's. There you have my not so humble opinion.
  23. Yeah but it's tapering all the time, so it gets worse the whole time you're using it, as you get tired you get to see less and less anyway, you don't need your lights exacerbating this.
  24. I think they both suck and we should all revert back to Suntour downtube shifters or single speeds!
  25. 35 lumens is lank low and the thought of the light tapering scares the hell out of me! That is the last thing you want in a light. It gets dimmer the longer you use it?
