  1. Big H? You are mellowing up there in Nigeria.
  2. I find riding with my racing frame number actually helps? Kinda weird but the (for lack of a better word) motorists seem to think that this somehow makes you more "official"?
  3. Hulle hettie Carbon rims nie! Dis hoekom, haal hom af.
  4. They should include: "Rims made in SA"
  5. Yeah, agreed Widget but my other point here is that the minute you walk out your dor your risks of getting something happen to you are elevated to monstrous levels. Go ride on the mountain.
  6. As I said Big H:
  7. A tik kop comes to mug me, I should rather stand and get stabbed and possibly ass-raped than jump the light, watch me jump that light!
  8. Agreed, they have to be trained like monkeys or dogs, rewarded for good behaviour and punished for bad behaviour. It really does work.
  9. It's not all black and white I'm afraid as my previous post refers, I agree we should obey the rules but there are sometimes extenuating circumstances.
  10. Look at the burn times, used them for 24 hour races before, wasn't entirely convinced. The head unit is nice though, very light and mounts far back on the head so it doesn't put strain on the neck, this is for the Halogen though, I think the HID is quite heavy though.
  11. No clue, GoLefty!!! has one though?
  12. When you looking at burn times always look at the minimum because you will almost always run full burn with your lights otherwise what's the point? Unless you have Lupines of course. www.lupine.de also www.niterider.com TitusTi2007-03-20 06:15:40
  13. So BigBen, you come right?
  14. The Moab battery also goes on the top tube:
  15. Get the Niterider! As endorsed by me, because I dig it!
  16. No one care what your light looks like but you care whether you can see or not. That is the only deciding factor!
  17. Dunno about brightest, hey. The Lupine Edison is the brightest, hands down, it's like sunrise when that bloody thing powers up! And you get like 6 hours of daylight with it, unreal! You do pay a tidy sum for it though.
  18. Marius, as for lights for 24 hour racing goes, only a few companies make lights that have capable burn times, most others you're gonna need a couple of batteries. They are in no particular order: Niterider, Lupine, Light & Motion. These are the big players in the sport, there are probably a few others that are off the radar, I know GoLefty!!! has some cool headlights as well, still need to try them out though. RodTi, the Moabs are expensive, you're looking at around 5k, but then for that you get a super bright HID that burns for a bit over 8 hours on maximum burn, and maximum burn is pretty potent. Niterider do make a few cheaper options as well, this is just the one at the top of the pile.
  19. You won't be able to use those for 24 hour races, the issue here is the burn time, 2 and a half hours is not gonna get you through the night. 2 batteries you say, what happens if there is no charging station? Also I think they have a 4 hour charge cycle which if not completed damages the battery, not sure how accurate that is but do you really wanna risk it?
  20. What you want as far as lights go are maximum lumens, maximum burn times, minimum price and in my case the ability to be able to put the battery somewhere else other than the bottle cage.
  21. An XT cassette is around R600-R700, don't go much lower than that. A second wheelset is always good to have especially if you don't wanna be changing tyres all the time. The lights generally come with batteries, so it'll be a complete unit unless you're doing a home job of some description.
  22. I will freely admit that I run red lights normally I do it in the Woodstock area, I figure it's a choice to try and avoid the Tik-koppe that try to knife you if you stand for to long and yes it has happened before.
  23. As if there was any doubt?
