  1. Poop just got real when you sit with the numberboard in your hand.
  2. may I be the first one to say bibs? The only place I would say a short is better is when you are doing short IDT type training. Shorts are generally less expensive than bibs and indoor training seems to wear out clothing a lot faster. I would wear shorts for IDT training. (Not that I do, but I just gave myself an idea.)
  3. 319km for the week. I wanted to do a 100km on Saturday but rain interrupted ride so did 14km and a 90min ride on a WB. Did the 100km ride yesterday. Just two more weeks to go. Actually more like 1.5.
  4. At my LBS. After discount, R2500. It has carbon soles and it comes with black laces also.I needed to get something that was more adjustable as I developed some nerve issues in my right foot.
  5. 392.7km for last week. Did 104km and a 178km with 2100m. Realised how easy it is to get totally bored. Actually got bored before I got tired. Nutrition was tested. Seems ok. May need one tweek in the food department and one tweek in the fluid department. Excited!
  6. 320km ridden this week. Longest ride was 132km in 5:15. Suffered a sidewall cut...Tsek.
  7. And? Did you go do some scouting Warthog?
  8. I finally enterred last week so I started logging my progress: 170km last week in three days.
  9. So this is just an observation but I was wondering, how many people that are offering support here is also on the weightloss thread? Some years ago, a long term relationshit I was in, ended. The relationshit wasn't great but it still hurt my feelings knowing that she has chosen someone else. In the space of about 5 weeks, I dropped 16kg and eventually ended up with single digit bodyfat. I started taking care of my health, found a new job, relocated, bought a motorcycle...I started looking after myself... What is it with relationshits and comfort zones?
  10. Looks like the support vehicle is going to be my first hurdle.
  11. So just a question regarding the support vehicle. I don't have a bakkie. Not even close. Is that a problem?
  12. I am also sick....of all the negativity that seems to be out there these days. For flowers steaks!
  13. I think that marriage is hard...which is maybe a part of the problem. We think it gets easier...I don't. I think we become more complacent and selfish and just generally going in to a comfort zone. Sometimes we hardly even notice it. In December when we were on leave I decided to do a little something. My wife played in a tennis tournament. One morning I went on my bike ride very early - I am not a morning person, I despise them - just so I can go watch her play. She told her friends about this. I think she thanked me about ten times that day. One small sacrifice... I then started thinking about small sacrifices I can make which cost me nothing but means ten times more to her. Anyway, it remains strange that in the beginning of any relationshit (sic) you are willing to sacrifice....Not so much later on. Come the divorce, people are (at least again in the beginning) willing to sacrifice again...
  14. Which is strange since when we are standing in front of the dominee we say that marriage is important and we will give the other person our best...and we wing it from there. I need time to go reflect.
  15. A slight hi-jack... This thread is called: advice on divorce...I could not find a thread called: advice on marriage... Do people in marriages know what they are doing or are we just winging it? Sure, not all advice will work for everyone...but who knows... Anyway. thinking out loud. Gotta go work.
  16. True that. Which is another thing: what makes people chose one another... Even when they shouldn't? I must just thank my mom for the times where she warned me against some of the girls I was with. Sheeez.
  17. Marriage is a strange thing. My folks got divorced from each other. Twice. My sister got divorced after 22 years of marriage and three kids. (I really disliked my brother in law from day one, what an ass!) My cousins got divorced... Friends....plenty. And then you have my inlaws. Been happily married for 45 years.
  18. Just made one hell of an oopsie... Should not have come here when I am on a strict calorie reduced eating plan. #whatwhereyouthinking
  19. So a week ago my niece amd her bf came to visit. Obviously there was going to be a braai. I was in the mood to braai a few chicken pieces. The bf asked me if I was going to pre-cook the chicken. No. Never. Why is it that people seem to have a problem to get chicken to braai all the way through? Hot coals. Turn frequently, especially on the skin side. And when you think you are done, give it 5 more minutes.
  20. These could be yours. Currently fostering these two that were dumped by some a*hole. Please help me find them homes.
  21. I don't want to post a pic yet but I made a commitment to my wife some time ago that the once her car is 6 years old, we can buy her a new one. Her car is now six years old. It was a 1.6 Polo Comfortline hatch. 2011. 60k km Needles to say, she upgraded...to her dream car... Should have it this coming week....
  22. Something else: braai stories! So some guys I know went for a braai at a dam near Bfn. Obviously they got plastered. Somewhere during the night the fire was lit and one lonely soul stuck a stick through a piece of wors and attempted to grill it over open flame. The stick he used caught fire and his dinner fell on the edge of the fire. There was no other stick near him to scrape the piece of wors from the edge of the fire. So his buddy was sleeping near the fire...he used his buddy's hand to scrape the wors from the fire.
  23. What is the stangest thing you have ever put on braai/tried to braai? For me it was a sort of mashed potato. You boil the potato untill it is almost ready. Then you put it on one of those toeklap rooster thingies and close it as gentle as possible. Try not to destroy the potato. Braai untill crispy. Add garlic butter. Consume.
  24. Not only that but it is also affordable (think end of the month braai)
