  1. If anyone is looking for a brand new (one ride) pair of Catlike Whisper Road shoes in EU41 black give me a shout. I mistakenly bought a pair hoping they would fit my EU40 feet. Not the case unfortunately. Will let them go for much less than OneDayOnly
  2. I have its big brother the ELEMNT and I must say its one of the best units I've ever used. Layouts and setup is very intuitive, most things can be sorted via the smartphone app. If you have a KICKR or KICKR snap then its a no brainer. Bottom line, I think you're going to be happy
  3. If you do get this, dont forget your CYCLETOUR150 discount code to get R150 off
  4. It really is astounding! The guy I train with is a good 30kg heavier than I am and has his aero position dialled. Head to head he smokes me down a hill, but if I'm in his slip I'll keep up no problem. Light weight also means less inertia meaning we'll feel the positives (slipstreaming) and the negatives (headwind) more severely (I'm no scientist, but this is the conclusion my brain is giving me). It's just another beautiful thing about cycling, its not dominated by one body type, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses
  5. Racing out of 1E we had 1 crash that I know of, turning left onto the M6. For the most part the group was well behaved except for a couple people being a little over eager on the brakes. It was my maiden CTCT so I was slightly cautious due to the large bunches For my own safety I broke away before the longer descents, which I actually find to be faster as you can use the whole road, pick your line, and not worry about crossing someone (chappies was particularly fun). All in all it was a great experience, the gees from the supporters was awesome compared to other events I've done, and I got my sub 3 so the pressure is off for future CTCT's. Was seriously stunned to hear about the fatalities though. So sad to think that while I was celebrating my race other's families were in mourning. My condolences to them
  6. Current expo mood:
  7. Sheesh! Some heavy hitters in there! Even a young Froomey!
  8. Paying R540 for a second lap seems a little silly. What do they need the extra bucks for? I did all my damage on the first lap
  9. Second lap emails are out! For seeding indexes of 29 and below
  10. I gave it one chance and the questionnaire page crashed. They probably dont need to know about my dicky bladder and wooden spleen anyway
  11. The orginisers made some top notch typos with the winners names: https://www.99er.co.za/index.php/race-results/184-2018-road-race-results Craig Boys (Boyes) and Waylon Woodcock (Woolcock)
  12. True, it's probably better for her to catch you half way up chappies where you can claim you had a mechanical. Good thinking
  13. That was group A
  14. Sounds like a lot of groups werent keen to work today. I was in A and there was way too much chatting going on for us to have caught anyone. Luckily also no crashes or anything too eventful, despite guys riding in the wrong lane and having to duck in to avoid oncomming traffic. Oh, and one guy knocking a traffic cone over into the bunch. All in all the race was really fun and well run, couldnt have asked for better weather (although I feel morally obligated to complain that it wasnt bucketing down with rain)
  15. Best of luck mate!
  16. Thanks mate! I'd feel bad claiming a sub 3 without doing my work up front anyways
  17. I hope they're big hands! I'm in 1E! It would be great to do a sub 3 in my first Argus but I'm really just amped for the vibe and mixing it up on the climbs
  18. I'm counting 1:7

  20. Fantastic! Thank you so much! Its a beautiful wheel, bearings are a bit rough though. Is it just a standard cup and cone setup?
  21. Hey guys, I picked this up on OLX for R200. Can anyone help me identify what model it is? Shamal/Vento/Zonda? Thanks!
  22. Wow! Molto bello!
  23. Agreed, I don't see the point in not complying, it kind of defeats the whole purpose of the ride. The thing I'm really struggling with is finding vintage kit that fits. The only stuff that seems to come up on the hub fits me like a tent. Any suggestions?
  24. The "South African" category has slightly more relaxed rules, bikes only need to be pre-2000, have down-tube shifters, and toe-clips. They do allow non-aero brake levers in this category. I assume the frames need to be SA made as well Hopefully its compliant, but I'm using my old touring bike, Le Turbo, leather wrapped bars, leather saddle bags, brooks saddle, 28mm tyres (bigger if i can), MTB rear derailleur, wide range cassette . If you have any doubts about compliance shoot the organisers an email, they are happy to give the thumbs up (or down)
  25. Who the hell buys their son a kettle for their graduation gift. LOL! Red flag!
