  1. Thanks Dale all the years of training finally paid off....
  2. Ok I will give it a go... SA Age Group Triathlon Champion 2011 (Olympic Distance)..... It was the first time I came across the line first... And the Pro's raced in a separate race otherwise they would have smoked my A$$
  3. I am about to get a new bike and the crank length that it is coming with is 170mm and I have always ridden with 172.5mm cranks. So my question is that it is on a Giant Road bike with the Powercore BB. Is it possible to just change the actual crank arms and leave the BB in place? IF anyone has done this or has any suggestions please let me know. As a new Crank with BB is over R2000. Thanks Joobs
  4. I would think in terms of the new Consumer Protection Act (CPA) they cannot refuse you to take it back. No matter if it is a sale item or not. I could easily be wrong but that is what I understood when I read through the CPA. As long as you have got the slip, you now have the right to return the product. Maybe someone else who has a deeper understanding of the CPA would be able to shed more on this...
  5. I would also have to say that it depends on which brand of deep section wheels you buy. I have just got a pair of the new Zipp 808's with the Firecrest design. The new 808's are as light as the older 404's. Along with that when I was racing with them a few weeks ago in slightly windy conditions to me they performed pretty much the same as my older 404's. The main difference was that the wheels with the larger surface area rolled a lot better and were a lot more aero in the windy conditions...
  6. I had a disc wheel before also for triathlons. And after reading up on the new Zipp 808's that they are now only about 10 - 11 seconds slower than the disc wheel I went with the set of 808's The main reason was that if i had to sit up for 20 seconds off the TT bars then the time saving with the disc is gone. And I could then also use my 808's to race with on my road bike!!!
  7. Thanks Gummibear for uploading the pic! Not the best quality thanks to the terrible phone camera but it is a beauty....
  8. Cool thanks man.... Just to give you an example I was doing the Amashova race and as we came onto the free way, I pulled out from the bunch all hunched down low and went on the far right hand side of the road. By the bottom of the hill I must have been about 50m past the bunch that was all huddled together and I was on my own. So from an aero point of view the wheels do fly. And in the cross winds which were blowing a bit in the same race, I felt it a tiny bit, but nothing to worry about at all....
  9. Ok I have no idea on how to upload or imbed the picture here is the URL just copy and paste this into your browser
  10. Yes I know I need to figure out how to upload the pic, as I put it in the attachments but it did not seem to upload!!!
  11. Here is a pic of the Zipp's on my new Bike!!!
  12. I have just got a set of the new Zipp 808's firecrest RIMS. And I can say that they roll super fast. And after looking at the spec's the new Zipp 808 clinchers are the same weight as the old Zipp 404's. Yes they are expensive but if you can afford it, without a doubt I would get the Zipp's
  13. Cool thanks for the advice Christie. I mostly do triathlons, and in the past I did have a disc wheel but it wasn't the zipp disc wheel. So I would think. Then with the new 808's I would be just as quick with another slightly lower brand or lower spec disc wheel. I race age groupers in the triathlon's and my goal is always to podium. And as you say it all depends on the course as some of the courses do have loads of corners and some do have hills. Also I think that if I had to just get that slightly more aero then with the 808's it would be very similar to the disc wheel.
  14. Thanks guys. I was chatting to another friend who also says that the new 808's are just as fast the disc. So I am going to go with the set of 808's
  15. Hey guys. Sorry I meant to say that I do both TT and road races. And the thing with a set of 808 is that I can use them in road races as well. So I will get more use out of the 808's because there are not that many TT's in SA. So it looks like the best option is the set of Zipp 808 firecrest. If you had a choice which would you choose?
  16. I have the option of either getting a Zipp Disc Rear wheel or Rear 808 firecrest. I know that the Disc wheel should be faster. But how much?? Any advice would be great. The nice thing with a set of 808 is that i can use that on the road bike also. Joobs
  17. I have actually gone from training 4 x swim, bike and run down to 3 x swim bike and run. For me it is more about quality than quantity and the other day after reading on the internet I had always thought that you trained and then recovered. When in actual fact (In my head at least) it should be you recover to train. And by that I mean if you train and then recover you will always train hard, but you will never be able to go as hard as you can in your training. But if you make sure you are well recovered first and then do say a quality track session you will be able to go faster and harder for longer, because you are well recovered. So by going harder and faster, after you recover again you will be stronger than before. So now if I wake up in the morning or I am feeling flat and tired after work I skip the session all together. It is not often, but I would rather skip the session and be fully recovered and ready for the next one, and be able to give it 100% And I also do race for positions sometimes, it all depends what my focus is on, because sometimes it is a training race to test things out... And as someone said before everyone is different, so what might work for me, might not work for other people....
  18. Thanks guys, I will look at the Silverback also and hopefully pick up something second hand.
  19. I am looking to buy a new or second hand mountain bike. I have got a max of R4500 to spend. And while I know this is not a lot, it looks like you can get a descent MTB out there. I am just starting out so there is no need for MTB with all the bells and whistles. I also dont want to get something that is bottom of the range. From all the MTB'ers out there, what would you guys suggest? I am currently living in the Durban area, so if you know of any specials or places please let me know.
  20. I actually did the race and they were strong as all hell. Even though they were on their 29er they attacked and rode the guys off. I am looking forward to how they race this coming weekend
  21. Thanks Tankman, I am thinking I might have a team going, just need to work out the logistics and finances.
  22. I would be keen to do it in a relay. And do the Bike and hammer it like MAD! Gotta find a team!!!
  23. I was watching also and both times they decided to go to an ad break, going up Chappies and then going up near the top of Suikerbossie. Both times you only saw them going down the other side. I was mal at the time. Do they not know that most of the action happens on the hills??? I had to laugh when the commentators or someone said it is because of the mountains that they cannot get the picture from the motor cycles. Then how do they do it in the Tour De France when they are climbing up Alp D'Huez and real mountains like that. And it is all broadcast in HD!!!!
  24. Results are up: This will download the XLS File
  25. I would just like to say that I just ordered all my photo's Once registered and put in my country of South Africa they took the VAT off. So my order was a Digital Download of all my pictures in the gallery and it came to 29.95 Euro's. Which works out at a thumb suck to R300
