  2. Tried that too, called Evobikes. Front I can convert, but the rear I cannot due to the axle length of 142mm.
  3. https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/stans-no-tubes-ztr-crest-mk3-xt-29r-wset-qr Wanted to get a set for my bike, unfortunately, they only have a TA version. Still a great price for someone looking for a new wheelset.
  4. Not sure if it is already mentioned, but learned it from my friend. When I do late afternoon/evening rides I wear vibrant colour socks. Sure it would help too, in terms of visibility.
  5. Absolutely! A Similiar way how Ewald Sadie got into the freelance shooting if I am not mistaken. Another example of a legend local photographer. *sorry, slightly off-topic*
  6. This oke can really take some awesome shots! Gave him a follow on IG. What a job to (my dream job) have: Riding bikes, and to be a shooter & writer for Pinkbike.
  7. First time capturing lighting.
  8. Saw Vetseun at our local garage tonight. Front page too!
  9. Lyk baie lekker ChrisF! Gravel grind jy bietjie? Oh, en jy ry die beste brand kar - Toyota all the way!
  10. Haha, Mr lee we are only flying this Friday, so can still get some miles on the bike before packing it. Collected the two cycling boxes yesterday at CWC. I never knew cycling boxes is so expensive. R250 a piece. Luckily one of the mechanics that worked on my bike organised two spare boxes from the workshop for free which was very generous of him. My friend is coming over on Thursday to help me pack. Last night my father forwarded the terms and conditions of travelling a bike from Kulula. I agree with everything, except two things: Deflate your tyres and we need to arrive 90 minutes earlier otherwise the bike does not go with. I understand that the air pressure changes when we are going to fly, but can't I just deflate it to 0.8bars front and rear. I am just scared the slime would somehow leak out when there is no air in the tyres. And why should we arrive 90 minutes earlier? They are not going to back the bike or anything, I am going to do that. Because now we need to be at the airport at 05:00 and we only departing at 06:30.
  11. The golden rule: n+1
  12. If I consider, the road bike will be used for early morning road loops, trips to Cape Town/Stellenbosch and for recovery rides. I just love the fact that you can cover so much mileage in a short time. We left at roughly 06:20 and was back from Stellies just before 08:00.
  13. Haha, maybe? Agree 100% with you, would be easier on the wallet.
  14. A fellow rider was generous enough to lend his trusty steed for me to test out a road bike for the first time. Must admit, was a joy to ride! My favourite was putting down the power on the straights - we rode to Stellies. And accelerating on the road bike is nothing compared to my MTB. Now I should just sell my kidney and then I am sorted! PS: I rode on the Raleigh, but I could not stop looking at those Darkhorse wheels.
  15. Saw that climb on Strava, not going to lie dit is nie niks nie! Absolutely! And the elevation is also quite high above sea already, would make it also harder. Nice! I will bring my lights with for evening rides. Last time I rode around the golf cart paths with the Segways, but on a bike, it would be much better. Wow, I have to try and capture a picture if I am lucky. Great to hear then, thanks for the reply Mr lee.
  16. Thanks Wannabe, I'll keep that in mind.
  17. About the camera, I won't say it is the fanciest one on the market, but I would not love it getting stolen. I ride with a separate small bag where I store the camera. The camera bag makes my back get sore after time. OK, yeah I see riding outside Sun City is clearly a no go. I saw on Strava there are quite a few segments inside the resort, so maybe I underestimated the resort. It could perhaps work out. I also saw there are a few climbs too. I won't mind doing some hill intervals repeats.
  18. We are staying in the Holiday Club area if I am not mistaken.
  19. Sho, sounds hectic! All I could find is this: The price is just WAY out of my budget.
  20. @Wannabe, I hear your point and won't argue with you. Then I'll have to make peace with only riding in the resort itself. The main purpose of bringing my bike with is to keep my fitness levels. I did check if they perhaps have a gym so that I can do some WattBiking for time being. Sadly I could not find any. I don't want to sit without a bike for eight days, hence the reason why I want to take it with.
  21. An MTB, more specific a hardtail.
  22. Howzit guys, Hope you all are excited for the weekend. We are going to Sun City for the September holiday and of course, the bike is coming with. Will be the first time flying with my bike and will organise a bike box this weekend. Asked my friend to come show me the ropes how to pack it correctly. Did a quick glance on Google Maps and saw that the resort itself is not that big. So I won't do a lot of riding in the resort itself, maybe around the golf course, if they allow it. Basically, I want to work on my base kilos. So far thinking of riding to Rustenburg and back or even to Oppikoppi. But I am used to the Western Cape and I know it is not the same up there, so I would like to hear the locals pointing out which routes would be the best and which should be avoided. I love taking photos, so I will most probably take my DSLR along the ride. So if there are any scenic sites to stop, I would love to hear. All of the rides will be solo. Any advice will be greatly appreciated it. Thanks. André
  23. RockShox is life. I love that LuvHandles grips! How are you experiencing them so far?
  24. Not mine, but just had to capture a shot of this beaut!
