There is a route I know that goes past Sandton Medi-Clinic and cuts through Bryanston and comes out at the bridge at the bottom of Bryanston Drive from where you could climb onto the Spruit but cycling by yourself I wouldn't recommend it. Alternative is to probably go up Rivonia to Sandton Drive.

The point of my post was simply.. If you don't have the skills to ride something don't change the trail to accommodate your own inabilities.

I reckon signs like these should be prominently mounted at the entrances to all trails.

I don't have a problem with the kerbs on Rustenburg Road as that is a dangerous section.

The roots have also been removed further down around the corner next to that large tree. If people don't have the skill to bunny hop a pavement or ride over a tree root, why remove those obstacles?

On the way to Alberts Farm you cycle behind the Auckland Park Bowling Club alongside the palisade fence. What I've recently noticed is that someone has removed all the tree roots. Question is, who and why?? I think it was a damn stupid idea with no foresight at all and no consultation with the people that actually maintain that section of the trail! Next thing they'll want to tar a cycle path or heaven forbid, remove all the rocks on Alberts Farm. If you know who was responsible, please PM me their details.

The analogy of a football team winning the Premiership vs the Champions League is pretty apt. When Liverpool won the Champions League in 2005 there was a huge amount of luck involved. Two or Three players of that team were really crap and if it wasn't for a Steven Gerrard goal against Galatasary in the dying moments of the league stage, Liverpool wouldn't have made it through to the knock-out stage and eventually go one and beat AC Milan. Chelsea that year won the Premiership by a huge 12 points from second placed team Arsenal with Liverpool a massive 37 points behind Chelsea in 5th place. Who was the better team that year? Undoubtedly Chelsea. Why? Pure consistency throughout a 10 month football season. So is the World Cup vs World Champs debate. Without taking anything away from the World Champ who has a brilliant ride on the day where everything runs smooth and like clockwork, the World Cup winner is in my opinion a more complete rider. He (or she) is able to adapt not only to a single track but to multiple tracks and show the level of consistency that is required to ultimately be best in the World for that year. That's why a guy like Greg Minnaar is truly a great of the "game". Someone who is a multiple winner in both formats!!
