  5. Edit: Remove post as I got wat I needed
  6. Hi everyone, my brake bridge's metal insert for the rear brake caliper has loosened somehow, and now the rear brake can't be tightened properly anymore. Is this a common problem? Is it easily repairable, or do I have to get a new frame if I want to fix the problem? Nearest lbs is 120km's away, so any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! That's the metal insert that is loose in the frame.
  7. That's like saying if Lance can dope you can too. If it's good enough for lance...:-) Just because someone well-known or famous does something wrong doesn't make it right
  8. 4 Orders already! One more and the building starts...
  9. 1st Order is in! 4 More and I can start building
  10. Thanks for everyone's replies and advice; these are the things that make thehub great Now that I know it's not worth selling, I can donate it to something worthy
  11. See, to me it's useless, so I'll probably give it away, but sometimes with "vintage" things you never know... This is probably one of those saddles that's old and worthless, but because I don't know, I'll rather ask and then maybe it's worth someting. You never know...
  12. A very big "Thank You" to Nicolai from B.O.M.B for donating a rear wheel, qr skewer. saddle and shifter cables to the build. If you've got any old bicycle parts that's lying around, I would highly recommend passing it on to them, they build bikes and donate it to those in need
  13. A lot of times you may have something that you might want to sell, but don't know what it's worth; so I thought that I would start this thread so that if ther's something that you want to sell that you don't know the value of(at least on the hub), someone might be able to help with a fair price to advertise it for. I'll start off everything by asking what this Selle Italia Trans Am is worth in the following condition:
  14. HI, everyone, every year GF4GF centres ride the 947 with TEAMBeulah(http://beulahafrica.co.za/2016/08/12/call-to-action-help-break-the-cycle-of-poverty/) in order to raise funds to help support ex-students at university.(http://gf4gfcentres.co.za/) So, my idea:Make and sell repair stands made mostly of reclaimed material to raise funds for the bursary fund, and to help maintain the bicycles, etc that are used each year. So, I would like to know: Do you guys think it's a good idea? Is there a market for this? And how much should I ask for the stands; R300, R400, R500? I was thinking of solely selling through the hub, but I don't know whether any bike shops might be interested in retailing maybe? Also, I will need at least 5 orders before everything can be bought to begin manufacturing. I would also like to donate 1 stand for every 10 sold to: projects like Build-a-Bike; B.O.M.B, or the the first taker on the hub for a free stand So, please post your thoughts/ideas here on the subject and let me know what you guys think Thanks in advance! The repair stand in all its glory!
  15. I am, but over here: www.bikehub.co.za/forum/topic/162121-need-parts-for-finishing-someone-elses-bicycle/?hl=need+parts The cassette is so that I can use a wheelset of mine that's lying around
  16. Hi guys, I'm looking for a 9speed Shimano/SRAM road cassette; please PM me if anyone's got something
  17. Many many thanks for Hilton's donation: Now we only need some grips, shifter and brake cables and housing, and a saddle. I will be willing to pay for postage of the items.
  18. True, but what if your nearest LBS is 120km's away, and don't stock Campag cables? Also, I didn't pay any tax on my order as it came with a courier
  19. KanonDonkie: PM sent Dubbelbuys: Thanks for the offer; luckily those items have already been sorted
  20. Tbh, I've had really great service with Wiggle; I was a bit sceptical on ordering from them after reading this thread, but decided to order anyway as there prices on components of a certain manufacturer starting with a c is very, very good... Bottom line is I ordered on 3 Aug and recieved my parcel today in Groblershoop. That's 7 days! So I will definately be doing bussiness with them again. My parcel did however not come with SAPO, but rather with Dawnwing couriers(I checked "Standard Tracked Postage).
  21. That could possibly work very well, maybe we could even upgrade it to 9speed! Now we only need someone to sponsor postage...
  22. Hi, Hubbers, I would like to fix someone's else's bicycle, but don't have all the parts that's needed for it and was wondering whether there might be some of you willing to donate-sort of like Build-a-Bike on a small scale. I need the following parts: New brake and shifter cables and housing, square taper crank, rear wheel with an 8speed cassette, a saddle, chain and new grips; it's an old Giant ATX870 if that helps. I'm in Groblershoop, but there are places in Vereeniging and Bloemfontein where parts can be dropped of. My number is 072 770 2167, and Email 3d.petri@gmail.com if anyone's interested. Thank in advance guys!
