  1. Been like that for a while already, they made steps basically worthless as of early last year, you want points you need to do actual exercise that actually raises your hr. Its been proven by a number os studies that while walking is beneficial and 10k steps a day is a good idea, it's effectively inefficient and ineffective over time, it's too passive an activity. I saw this from personal experience when I was trying to loose weight, did the steps and all, that was good for 15 of the 32kg I lost, but from that point on it did next to nothing, and honestly much of those losses could be attributed to no milkshakes, less chips and chocolates, not putting mayonnaise on EVERYTHING, and we'll the 9 cups of coffee with 3 sugars each ever single day was a terrible idea. For me to actually reach my goal, and this was before I was with Discovery, I had to step it up, took up running, for a couple of years gym as well but dropped that and with just running, weight loss plateaued again, not that I needed to ditch much more, but your body becomes adept at better utilising energy for activities, so unless you mix things up or cross train, the same running in my case began to yield lower caloric burns, if I had to do a run now as fast as I was able to a year ago I would need to do 2-3x the distance just to have the same impact. Its probably been 8 or 9 months since I last managed to break 160bpm outside of a race. If I didn't run balls to the wall or do at least an hour, I'm not getting 300 points anymore. Took up cycling a few months ago and that mix has made running more useful again, I actually cycle so much and run soo little that my running slowing down and getting harder again. So it's once again becoming a useful caloric burner again. As much as discoveries changes can be annoying, that is one I can actually agree with, I know many people who have gone through the same process as I, as repetitive activities becomes less effective, all the science to prove it, walking for the majority is simply not enough to be quantified as a long term beneficial activity for a healthier lifestyle, and at the end of the day, discoveries main goal is to keep you out of hospital so that you don't cost them money. 2. Dude, I did this last year, benefit is active before buying the shoes. They will only know that you purchased the shoes on Friday when the pull the data from sportsmans, and this is not even my opinion, I contacted them and asked them, they do monthly pulls from sportsmans, totals sports, etc on the 23rd of each month. Seeing as you made your purchase today you will be getting your 15/25% back Monday or Tuesday, payout runs on the 25th but banks take naps on weekends for some reason.
  3. It's meant to show active before buying... And that just means the benefit is active, has nothing to do with the actual purchasing of the shoes. Scott Scale 960 (2017) MTB Vids: ltstyt.be/@remelehane
  4. Was going to get them this month, but with like 10 days left in the competition to win the shoes I am planning on buying, may as well wait it out,
  5. Problem with things like this specifically is its all personal preferences. There are pros and cons but those are also somewhat personal, I liked the bib at the start, and for the saddle are it's very comfortable, but as I move around on the bike the straps cause irritations, while with shorts I have no irritations or issues of any kind and I have done 70k+ rides in my shorts and baggies. Like runners and shoes, cyclists and shorts are a personal choice based on comfort and specific requirements. Scott Scale 960 (2017) MTB Vids: ltstyt.be/@remelehane
  6. Well, never had any problems with any of the shorts I own, it ain't broken so not about to fix it. Scott Scale 960 (2017) MTB Vids: ltstyt.be/@remelehane
  7. Grab something like this and no need for the change either. https://www.westpeak.co.za/collections/all/products/new-ride-shirt-gunmetal-grey Scott Scale 960 (2017) MTB Vids: ltstyt.be/@remelehane
  8. Am I the only one here who prefers shorts, I have a bib and it comes out of the closet dead last. I'd only even consider wearing them on shirt rides as with long ones they end up chafing shoulders and nipples, and they just all round uncomfortable. Dunno what shirts you guys are wearing if your crack is sticking out, but if you buying cycling ones, the backs are longer than normal shirts, and hell even when I wear shorts with a vest I have no cracking issues. 9. They would be using 1 system to handle all claims, different devisions are simply different types with different business rules, but one system will handle all of that.
  10. At least he is not part of the web team, they are a joke. Interviewed with them and they quite happily told me in the interview they work for discovery, do the website and have unstable Internet, so in the event of a deploy coinciding with Internet issues, they put the code on a flash drive and deploy from the Internet cafe across the road. 11. Well, seeing as everyone would have only been able to activate a new booster from this month, I am not really sure why they would have added that section in, possibly for those like myself who preemptively paid last December when they sent out payment notifications, or those on auto pay. As they won't give your money back, its technically earmarked for the 2018 shoe booster, which you cannot activate till next week, so there will be no money to return to you anyway. You won't be able to cancel 2017s shoe booster if you say go your shoes like December, that is still your 2017 shoes, not your 2018 shoes. Scott Scale 960 (2017) MTB Vids: ltstyt.be/@remelehane
  12. Belaga is also mohair, the ones in the pic are https://www.shopbalega.co.za/Blister-Resist-Crew-Black-Red-p99895134
  13. I have the liquorish all sorts, then not a f comfortable. I wear them as my part of my day to day socks as that's all they good for. None of those I read with wear funky socks, again because function over fashion. I also don't buy jeans made by Edwards scissors hands. I know only 1 of very many runners who choose fashion over function. Trust me, if you want the worlds best socks, get a pair of balega, while they are technically running socks, they quite happily cross the bar over to cycling according to the word of my feet. 17. If you part of the vitality team, sending a manual one simply means you do not get your cash back on the race fee, otherwise if I recall you have till Tuesday to submit it if you need the points for this weeks weekly scoring.
  18. Only had that once, but as long as you submit within 2 weeks you fine, if you manually submit you loose the cash back for the specific event if you are a member of the relevant team. Scott Scale 960 (2017) MTB Vids: ltstyt.be/@remelehane
  19. Races on the list of vitality races do not need manual submission, they are on that list as they have partnered with the organisers and the timing providers to automatically get that data from the event. Scott Scale 960 (2017) MTB Vids: ltstyt.be/@remelehane

  21. This really is just old news, to get maximum benefits out of Vitality you have always needed to do the Fitness and Health Assessment, in fact as of 2017 they made it easier to get to Gold by doubling the amount of points you can get for fitness as well as separating the health assessments from the fitness category for points allocation. I do it every year, and as a Platinum member, TV pays me back more than the cost of the fitness/health assessment in smoothies, shoe booster, race rebates. They basically give me money and free **** to do what I would be doing anyway. While TV's goal is to improve fitness and activity, for me it simply is a way for me to enjoy what I would be doing and get massive discounts and free **** along the way. At the end of this month I would have paid R700 for a R2400 pair of shoes, that I would have purchased regardless. With or without Vitality, I needed the shoes, they were just kind enough to pay me back 2 grand, and if I consider the R500 shirt you get with the membership and the R900 they paid me back in 2017 for races I would have done anyway it can be aid that they in fact paid me R200 to buy the shoes. So it really is up to you as to weather or not you CHOOSE to get value from your membership.
  22. Ahh, but in SA we need to factor in import duties, customs bribes, government bribes, pumas fire pool, and, and, and... Scott Scale 960 (2017) MTB Vids: ltstyt.be/@remelehane
  23. That's not expensive, not if you like your feet, legs, arms, chest, back, face, etc. There is no such thing as expensive running shoes, only good ones and bad ones. Scott Scale 960 (2017) MTB Vids: ltstyt.be/@remelehane
