  1. Sigma Rox 11, great value for money, does all the things you need, Strava etc and power if you have the cranks or pedals. You won't go wrong with German engineering.
  2. Derailleur hanger bent after accident
  3. I use the Sigma Rox 11, faultless, does everything, Strava, can create your own routes to navigate with and it's very affordable compared to other brands. Sigma is German technology which has been around for ages.
  4. I agree with that section from Lanseria road to Pelindaba, very narrow, I've been cycling over 35 years and that road made me super scared. Lots of ore carriers, last time I rode there was over Xmas period so there were less vehicles but still too many. I you do go that road keep checking behind you and the just pull onto the dirt and stop, one you are past it's all good again. The view at top of Saartjies overlooking Harties is iconic.
  5. My Rapport was exactly the same spec, only difference was mine was silver, same decals. If I can recall it cost around R150 new in those days. This bike started my love for cycling.
  6. I use a KMC 11 SL chain, just changed now and probably got over 4000km, very good chains. Wipe down every 10 rides and WD40 then wipe excess off. Take chain off say every 600km and clean in parafin, rinse with degreaser and water, dry the WD40. Also clean derailleur wheels with cloth now and then. Don’t over lube and leave it wet
  7. I had a silver one exactly the same, Mafac centre pull brakes, Simplex Derailleur. Bought from Bouwer Broers in Pretoria in 1980. Started racing in 1982. Brother had a Peugeot Champion and sister had the Mirage. I sold the Rapport in a garage sale. Upgraded to a Olmo Gentleman
  8. I had same issue during colder weather, it came down to putting more tension to the centre pre load on Shimano ultegra crank, just loosen the two Allen bolts on LH arm then tension centre cap up and re torque Allen bolts. Mine went away. Shimano and BBB make a special key socket to fit into the Shimano crank arm cap
  9. What I used to do was pass Paarden Eiland and head onto N1, just keep left. The pinch point and the highest risk was going under Church st - I just took Church st off ramp and crossed over Church st then merged back onto N1, just keep left. Never had any close encounters with traffic. Cycle path has claimed too many victims so I would strongly advise to avoid it. Coming back from town is easier on N1, the only place to be careful is passing the Church st off ramp again but check your traffic behind you and also indicate your intention to go straight, traffic at least know where you are going, again never had a problem. Also as you go under Church st just keep as far left and check behind for trucks/busses and time it to pass through without them. The rest is good and your chances are better riding this route. Safe rides and enjoy
  10. Hi jack equipment, very cunning plan to slow or stop a mountain biker and hi jack. Lots of informal settlements around that area
  11. From what I heard from a tour operator today was that surfer returned to his vehicle and was apprehended by two men with guns and was put into car boot. They drove away and they stopped to pick up two women asking for a lift, when the two passengers were in the car they panicked when hearing there was someone in boot. Drivers let them out and carried on only to have an accident with another car. The other car chased these guys down and these guys pointed guns at him, this guy then left the chase. They drove off and then set fire to the car and person in boot burnt to death. This is what I heard, could be broken telephone. But RIP to an innocent surfer
  12. Keywin agent - Jorge Faria, based in JHB
  13. Great pedals with large area, been riding them since 2004. I use the titanium shaft model which is one of the lightest pedals and very durable. There is an agent in JHB where I bought my last pair of cleats from
